We had the good fortune of connecting with Re Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Re, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For the longest, I have been trying to figure out what it is that I like to do, like what my niche is. I love a lot of things, but since I moved to Texas, I’ve been consistent with Hot Yoga, Fitness and Health. With this, I wanted to start my own business to incorporate all of these into one. It has been a struggle, because I have so many thoughts and ideas on what I want to do, and it still feels like everything is all over the place. My thought process is to integrate the body, mind, spirit, and soul through movement that brings peace, comfort, and calmness, one day at a time. I want my place to be a one stop shop and a safe place for everything one may need, wellness tips, a place for solitude, rather that be through yoga, the gym (any kind of fitness), basketball, etc. My thought process is still currently thinking…

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been in the healthcare and health insurance field since 2014, so about 11 years now. I am a certified professional coder (CPC) and enjoy what I do. Currently, I am a Project Manager for Chorus Community Health Plans where I have been employed since 2018. I adore the close-knit relationship I have with my team and enjoy what I do. When I started at this health plan, it was fairly new as it had just rolled out in 2016, so the department and jobs were limited. After some time, the position I am in now, was created specifically for me, which made me love my job even more. Chorus promotes within and tries to do its best to give its employees the best of both worlds. The work-life balance is extraordinary, and I have never worked with a job that provides the amount of flexibility I get from my team. Working here, I’ve learned that change is good, change allows for growth and without it we become too comfortable with where we are and who we are. I am learning that anything is possible and asking for help is okay, because there are things that I may not know that someone else may and if they don’t then they know someone who does. I am learning to go after what I want and never to settle, because I only get one life to live, so why not live it the why I want it to be lived. To have faith and hope that everything will work out how it is supposed to and to take everything one day at a time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Yoga Journey started out at Horizon Hot Yoga in Frisco, and it was one of the best experiences I have encountered. When I first moved to Texas, and I began searching for places to do Yoga this was the first place I stumbled across and luckily it was one that I stuck with. The staff there are awesome, and they were the reason I stayed and continue to stay. I want to give a shoutout to two individuals whom I’ve grown close to and who have supported me with my adventures. Along with one individual who has been with me every step of the way. First, I would like to give a shoutout to John Bamberger, you have been a consistent individual to my craft since I started and you’re great to be around. Thank you for always staying after classes to practice, to go through flows with me, listen to my ideas, and give any feedback or knowledge that you may have. Most importantly, thank you for listening and being there, your support doesn’t go unnoticed. Next, I would like to give a shoutout to Mary Ellen Crow, who has become my mentor. When I presented the idea to Mary Ellen on what I wanted to do and what my goals were, she was the first person to say, you need to do this and that and give me genuine advice and that stuck with me. A lot of individuals in the Yoga and Fitness world are all about competition and they sometimes can forget that we all are in this together and when we come together, we can accomplish bigger and better things and Mary Ellen sees that vision and she sees the growth and potential in me. With that support, I believe I can do anything, so thank you Mary Ellen for being there when it counts the most. Lastly, I would like to give a shoutout to my best friend Brianca Beverly. If there is no one who believes in me, it is here. From day 1 she encourages me to see past my limits. I knew that I loved Yoga but had no intentions of becoming an RYT at all, but sure enough, my best friend pushed me to do it. Every step of the way she is there guiding me and helping me become the best person I can be while doing all of the things I love, so thank you Brianca, I honestly wouldn’t be where I am without you.

Other: This is all still new, my LLC was just created. I am still in the process of getting a website, creating an email, obtaining a phone number and setting up a separate IG. Everything is in the works, but my journey is being captured at the IG site listed above in the meantime.
