We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Proa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
What makes me happy is using my platform and talent to help others. I have a passion for creativity and enjoy art in all forms. So giving people a catalyst for change, whether it be a clean haircut for a date or job interview gives me a sense of fulfillment.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well, my career is very humble and ernest. I come from a “blue collar” background, and I always believed in “dirty hands make clean money.”. I have been somewhat of a journeyman throughout my life, but I wanted to find something exciting as well as challenging to peak my creative mind and use my hands. Cutting hair has given me the direction and focus to create as well as mentor my younger colleagues. I also get the honor of working with people of the autism spectrum. Two of my children, both young men now were born with autism. I started cutting there hair at a young age. With this experience I have used it to help parents who may find it difficult to find a barber with the patience and understanding it can take in some situations.

The story I would want to tell the world about me or my brand is simple really. I want people to be happy and enjoy life. I would like people to feel their best and look good doing it. I don’t feel like it should cost an “arm and a leg” for a haircut.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
An itinerary for things to do in Denton…. The SQUARE! Music, great food, video arcade, and comicbooks! Too many things to list!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My success is on the shoulders of a lot of different people. My family, my instructors from school (NCTC Gainesville, Tx,), My mentors from previous barber shops, but most of all God. Without him I wouldn’t be where I am today.
