We had the good fortune of connecting with Patty Myasia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patty, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success + the success of my brand, is the authenticity. Every message is curated solely for the culture, unapologetically. The masses support the authenticity, they receive every flower I’m handing out—through my art.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My brand is Piece by PMR, hand-painted and hand-crafted black luxury. My brand is a creative ode to black culture. I hand-paint handbags, and also offer apparel and accessories. For us, and only us, unapologetically.
I started off solely creating custom pieces for myself, and so many started to inquire about commission work, so I kick-started my brand. I am intentional on not selling our traumas back to us, but I try to keep my brand as authentic as possible—to hand the flowers back to us. Art is how I use my voice, and show up for us.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Art is my favorite way to suppress, whenever my friends come around we head to the city, and explore every after gallery/museum we can, after having a time at brunch. Downtown Atlanta is always a vibe!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Behind every successful woman, there’s a team of successful/spiritual women. I have a ton of black women that I thank daily—they altogether push me to be the best version of self. I would love to shine some light on Claudia Potts & Taquaya Smith.
They’re two women that I am immensely grateful for, in a season where so many tainted hearts kept trying to latch onto me, they were a safe space for me. I can go to them and vent, laugh, receive genuine constructive criticism in love, receive prayer, and be the most unfiltered version of me. They were present during storms, and sunshine. I’m a successful business woman, because I know women like them behind the scenes, that help me never stumble. They’re a great display of the way God wants us to treat people. For that I am eternally grateful. Two beautiful sprits that I consider great big sisters!
