We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Tomaino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My friend Lauren and I both moved our families from California to Texas around the same time, so our families were celebrating Easter together. As we were talking about preparing for the holiday, we realized we wanted more toys that focused on the meaning of Easter to give our children, and decided to make them ourselves!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Friends of the Faith blossomed from an idea between friends! By day, I am a lawyer and Lauren is a Director for a Big 4 accounting firm. Neither of us had background in starting a product business. But we researched incessantly and kept moving forward, sometimes learning through trial and error, to create our products, build our website, and start marketing! We launched for Easter 2023, a little over a month after we first came up with the idea. Since then we have continued to expand and refine our vision.

Our original product, plush pals, are shaped pillow plushes of Bible characters. After a year of research, and months of development, we have just launched a more traditional plush of Jesus! I’m so proud of how far we’ve come in a year and can’t wait to see where we go!

I would want the world to know that we believe in our message, and are excited to help others live, learn, and share their faith!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve only been in the Dallas area for about 2 years, so I am still discovering so much of the amazing offerings of the area, but I’ll share what I’ve found!

I’m a coffee lover, so I would start any day with coffee from one of the many great coffee shops in the area! Summer Moon has been my favorite recently, always so good!

I would definitely visit the Dallas Arboretum, it is one of my favorite spots in the area. I could honestly spend all day exploring the garden, having a picnic on their lawn, letting my kids run around the Children’s area, and eating their fantastic food.

The beauty of Rockwall was the tipping point in deciding to move to Texas for me, so I would have to include a day there! I would go to the harbor for lunch (I always love Rodeo Goat), walk around, maybe take a boat cruise, and eat dinner in the historic downtown!

A day in McKinney would also be fantastic! Start with breakfast at the Starwood Cafe in the Adriatica area and explore the beautiful European looking sights! Eventually make it to downtown and go shopping, do some arts and crafts, and grab dinner at one of the amazing restaurants in the area!

In my dreams I would include a splurge day downtown, with tea at the French Room, see the sights from the Geodeck, and dinner at Monarch or the Mansion at Turtle Creek.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friend Lauren Wilbur, co-owner and co-founder of Friends of the Faith! Our friendship has been such a blessing, and so much fun! And to our families, our husbands who support all of our ideas, and our children, our favorite product testers and assistants!
