We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanon Crisp and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shanon, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Medical aesthetics may seem straightforward from the outside – but there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye. One aspect of the medical aesthetics industry that outsiders might not realize is the delicate balance between artistry and science, particularly in roles like that of a nurse injector. While it’s common knowledge that procedures like Botox and dermal fillers require technical skill, what often goes unnoticed is the creative element involved.
Being a nurse injector isn’t just about administering injections; it’s about having a deep understanding of facial anatomy, proportions, and symmetry, it’s about selecting the correct products, techniques, and use of different modalities to deliver safe and effective results to enhance a patient’s natural beauty. It requires an eye for detail and an understanding of the aesthetic goals of each individual. A skilled nurse injector isn’t merely following a set of instructions; they’re sculpting and shaping, like an artist with a canvas.
Moreover, the emotional and psychological aspect of the job is significant. Nurse injectors often serve as confidants, listening to patients’ concerns and aspirations, and guiding them through their aesthetic journey. They must possess empathy and communication skills to ensure patients feel heard, understood, and comfortable throughout the process.
In essence, being a nurse injector merges the precision of medical science with the creativity of artistry, all while prioritizing patient well-being and satisfaction. It’s a multifaceted role that requires a unique blend of skills and attributes that might not be immediately apparent to those outside the industry.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey through the field of bedside nursing into the world of aesthetics has been an unforgettable one, driven by a passion for helping others look and feel their best, on the inside and out. What sets me apart from others is my unwavering dedication to my patients, by prioritizing their safety, providing natural looking results, and supporting their overall well-being.
I take immense pride in the relationships I build with my patients. By creating a comfortable, safe, judgement-free space where they can truly be themselves, I am able to better understand their unique needs and tailor treatment plans accordingly. This personalized approach has not only garnered trust but has also resulted in exceptional outcomes, enhancing my patients’ confidence and well-being.
Getting to where I am today has been a journey filled with challenges and growth. Transitioning from a registered nurse in a Neuro Trauma ICU to a nurse practitioner injector required rigorous academic pursuits, extensive training, and continuous professional development. It hasn’t been easy, but through perseverance and a commitment to learning, I have overcome each obstacle, emerging stronger and more skilled.
The lessons learned along the way have been invaluable. I’ve learned the importance of adaptability in an ever-evolving field, the significance of empathy, and the fact that you can’t make everyone happy, but you can do your best.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that beyond delivering exceptional results, I am deeply committed to empowering individuals to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. If you look good, you feel good, and we all deserve to feel good.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestie was in town we would definitely have to have dinner and a margarita at Mi Dia in Plano. Spend a day relaxing at the Omni PGA Spa finishing up with a delicious dinner there. Go for brunch at Mesero, then do some shopping at the Shops at Legacy. Take her to check out the Frisco Star with an amazing lunch at Anayas in Plano. Definitely go by the Arboretum – weather permitting. And hopefully go to a Cowboys, Mavs, or Stars game if possible.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not have made it this far without the love and support of my father & late mother. They never pushed me to be the best – they just simply believed and told me I was. My father continues to be my number 1 fan. My brothers for being successful and paving the way to show me what is possible with some grit and determination. I’m also super competitive so their own success pushes me to do better, to be the best. Angie – for trusting and believing in me to run this beautiful clinic we have established. Sara – my best friend and social media manager who always has my back, motivates me daily to keep going, and lets me know “we’re doing alright sister”. Lily – my medical assistant and right hand, I simply could not function and handle everything without your help. Tre, for all your love, with all my love.
