We had the good fortune of connecting with Quanisha Vickers & KenJanae Randle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quanisha Vickers & KenJanae Randle, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
As passionate full time educators and small business owners it is imperative that we use our time wisely. When we first launched The School of Balloons it seem as if there was not enough time in a day. The demands of both jobs quickly became overwhelming. We went back to drawing board enforced routines, created deadlines and scheduled times for task. While this method is not fool proof it definitely improved our productivity and performance on both jobs.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are Quanisha and KenJanae and together we make The School Of Balloons! Two classroom teachers who have the vision of bringing joy to every occasion through balloons and decorations. Just like teaching, we believe creativity is a work of heart. In 2021, we would cross creative paths when we were asked to create a balloon arrangement for an event at our school. Unbeknownst to us, this was the exact moment things would begin to align for us, and soon after The School Of Balloons was launched. We are a true testament to the saying two heads are better than one. We provide clients with an unforgettable experience where we turn their vision into reality. We have seen many successes in this business such as collaborations with DJ Duffey of Basketball Wives LA and our most recent accomplishment Actress/TV personality Tabitha Brown. These proud moments put a smile on our faces but we believe transparency is very vital in this business. Entrepreneurship is not always rainbows and sunshine. Sometimes it looks like personally funding business expenses, finding a work-life balance, and having a mindset of perseverance. Entrepreneurship is far from easy but it is worth it. During this journey, the biggest lesson we have learned is consistency is key. Every month will not be lucrative but that is not a sign to give up it is a sign to go harder. The School of Balloons wants the world to know that when working with us you will experience passionate creatives who aim to provide a luxury experience.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Whenever you land in Dallas, Texas the first stop should be good food, music and scenery in Bishop Arts. While were at it Karaoke and drinks from Casablanca is a must! After we have sung to the top of our lungs we are going to head to Trinity Grove to shop local and grab a moist Italian cream cake from the Cake Bar. Now, lets be a realistic we are getting up in age and nap is definitely needed to continue this DTX show. After a good rest, we are ready to dress up and enjoy a cultural fusion cuisine at Pangea.

Before this trip over here is some must do’s

African American Museum of Dallas
Hiking at Cedar Ridge Preserve
Vegan eats at Sankofa’s Kitchen & Bar
Skate Night at RedBird Skateland
Candle Making at Candle BLK Candle Lounge
Get active at Klyde Warren Park
