We had the good fortune of connecting with Natetisha McIntosh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natetisha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Hello I’m Natetisha, the Founder and CEO of LashUp BrowDown. LashUp BrowDown originated in Anchorage, Alaska 11 years ago, where we only specialized in lashes at the time. LUBD begin as a thought of how to make extra income. I had a decent full time job, but extra income is always nice right? As a consumer of receiving lash services I told myself, I could do that. So I taught myself how to do eyelash extensions. I’ve always been a visual, and hands on person so I just knew I could do it. Practicing on friends and family. I mastered my craft and built a full part time career.

What should our readers know about your business?
We offer innovative training in Eyelash Extensions, Microblading, and Permanent Makeup. We have licensed estheticians, and licensed instructors who started right where you are. We are ready to help you be your own boss, and a build your lash and brow business. Our students leave LashUp BrowDown with knowledge, confidence, and products prepared to immediately offer their unique services to new and existing clients. We focus on quality, and a firm foundation that will prepare you for success. We take pride in our training and services, and have the best lashes in denton. That’s right! Now offering your Lash Speciality license (320 hours), and can be a licensed lash artist once you’ve attended our academy. We have what you need to get started in your career. Opening up a beauty school, what joy and lots of no sleep days. Sleepless nights, continued education, attending school while running a studio, and servicing my clients was a huge challenge. Many don’t know I’ve been in school behind the scenes. Of course on my off days which lead to no off days. But, you see. Knowing the hard work will help someone start their career, and give them a jump start is worth every minute of no sleep. Or days I just didn’t feel like I could push through. But, I remember the struggle, and how their weren’t many lending hands. So, I’m grateful to pave the way for other eager entrepreneurs. If you can see it, it’s for you and you have to do what it takes to get what’s for you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love EVERYTHING Denton. My friends literally make fun of me because I rarely go outside the city limits. Barley and Board my favorite restaurant. Eastside family friendly, and overall a great vibes with good people. I enjoy the live music you’ll hear throughout the town, and the walking trails are super beautiful. I’m honestly holding back, because I’m a complete foodie that could name all the amazing restaurants in town. SERIOUSLY!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In building our brand it was important to surround myself with positive, and like minded individuals. People who have lived through the journey of being an entrepreneur, or even having the drive to thrive. Thanks to the LUBD team for their hard work and dedication. When you can work with amazing individuals who see the vision, that feeling in unexplainable. I love our LUBD family! Thankful to my mentors back home in Anchorage, Alaska, who have inspired me to keep pushing. Knowing the challenges, but also knowing the worth of living in your dreams. My family, and parents are my strength to lean on. The words of wisdom give me the extra push. It’s a true blessing to have people cheering in your corner.
