We had the good fortune of connecting with Jannah Jeffries and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jannah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
At the age of 29 my father passed unexpectedly. I had just moved into a new place and remember thinking, “if I need anything I don’t have anyone to call on.” I made it up in my mind that I needed to have multiple streams of income. That was the start of my new journey.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Lash Out is not just about lashes. It’s an entire look. To “lash out” has multiple meanings. In this case I chose the British meaning which is to spend money extravagantly. My customers don’t just have the option of purchasing lashes. They are able to purchase clothing, accessories, and also make appointments for almost any/every beauty service you can think of. I am 3 years in and still have a long way to go. My goals are to expand into a full-service beauty bar and continue to expand my apparel line. I’ve learned not to give up. You have wins and you’ll take losses but staying consistent is key. When customers order from me it’s an experience. From the packaging, quality of products, and sweets included in every purchase, they won’t be disappointed. I grew up in Gary, Indiana. Not a lot of us are given opportunities. It says a lot to invest in yourself and trust the process. It was hard spending my own money and not seeing a profit. Eventually things got better. Lash Out LLC is here to stay.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them shopping at NorthPark Center Mall and dinner at Nick and Sam’s steakhouse. Maybe brunch at the Local Tap on Saturday and a game of bowling at the Bowl Lounge that night. Sunday would be a great day for drinks and dancing at Lava Cantina.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and close friends made sure to encourage me. Which was a blessing. However, one of the people that encouraged me the most was my mother (Pam Hughes). I have always had a passion for beauty. When I started the idea to pursue a “lash line” she made it clear right away that she felt I was making a good move.
