Meet Terika Williams | Fitness Trainer & Corporate Finance

We had the good fortune of connecting with Terika Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Terika, what inspires you?
I am inspired by my willingness to exceed limitations and surpass any low expectations that have been set.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a finance professional by trade. I’ve worked in the industry for about 7 years now. I’ve learned so much as an employee for a large firm. I’m most proud of my resilience and persistence as an employee and striving entrepreneur over the years. As an entrepreneur my niche has been health and wellness. I am a Certified Personal Trainer as well as a Group Fitness Instructor. I’ve faced a couple of challenges along the way as a fitpreneur. For instance, my biggest obstacle was facing a life threatening, exercise injury that set me back quite a bit in business and within my own health. On the bright side, I’ve established many long term relationships with clients that I’ve coached over the years. I’ve been a fitpreneur for about 11 years now. It has been an uphill climb and the biggest lesson I’ve learned along the way is how important it is to protect my brand. I am thankful that I have had a very, very supportive client base who I’ve impacted in a positive, life changing way. I’ve pursued many brand names over the years, but now I have combined all of my talents, niches, and interests into one brand. I am my brand. I strive to represent myself in the best way. I know that through all of the ups and downs of being a black woman in corporate and in business, everything will pay off. Health, wellness, faith, and finance are ultimately what I, my brand, represents. Although, my career hasn’t reached it’s full culmination yet, I’m excited to extend to new heights.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my best friend/sis, who I too consider family to see the city of Dallas! Dallas has so much to offer. I’ve still got a lot to explore myself. First, we’d enjoy brunch at one of my favorite spots. Then we’d do some shopping at North Park and/or Bishop Arts District. Afterwards, we could visit Dallas Farmers Market to shop black owned small businesses. Lastly, after a day of exploration, we’d enjoy dinner, somewhere upscale; and If we have any additional time or days I’d definitely take her to visit the African American museum and to church!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to start out by recognizing my family for playing a vital role in my growth and success thus far. My mother, Beth Brown, and my step father, Robert Brown, continuously support me in whatever way they can and are a constant source of encouragement. My grandparents keep me lifted up in prayer along with the rest of my loving family. Lastly, my brother and sister in love are always there to keep me in the know of new opportunities and connect me with the right people to help me in my endeavors. I appreciate them all so much. I’d also like to shoutout my past employers, managers/supervisors and mentors that have always believed in me, and valued my talents and efforts that I’ve brought to every table that I’ve sat at. To add to that, I am a product of an HBCU, The Prairie View A&M University where they produce productive people. I am thankful for every person who impacted my college career in an honorable way on the hill. Honestly, there are too many to name that have been an influential part of my career and that are apart of my network. They know who they are. Thank you all. I can’t forget, I’m thankful for the love of Jesus and his provision that he offers me daily. I am more than thankful for his sacrifice.
