We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamiqua Whittaker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamiqua, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Becoming an entrepreneur was never in my realm until much later as an adult. I’ve been in dentistry for 15yrs, and thought I’d retire doing that. But while thinking of ways to create more income in my home, my husband planted the idea of creating something that I could call my own. But of course I needed to create something I was serious and passionate about.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Queen Kisses All Natural Luxury Lipcare started as just lipscrub but I always had intentions on creating an entire line of products. What sets me and my brand apart fm others is my knowledge and expertise behind the products that I sell. Being in dentistry, I seen lots of dry lips in the office and creating a fun, tasty (and all natural) solution to that is what I’m most proud of.
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy, I was very shy growing up, but as an adult I’m focused on winning and being successful, so I never let fear or anxiety stand in my way. CONFIDENCE is part of my brand mantra.
Lessons I’ve learned-lots! Mainly to trust your own intuition about your brand and who you associate it with. Also I’ve learned alot about aligning myself with the right people/ organizations as well as knowing when to cut ties with certain partnerships.
I want the world to know that TAMIQUA is far from finished with leaving my mark, my brand will be a global phenom and turn this beauty thing OWWWT (no matter how long it takes lol)

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love my city of Tulsa and there are so many gems here! We would eat at MOTHERROAD MARKET which was voted Best Food Hall in the country this yr, ive got a couple friends that actually run their own restaurants inside…we would also visit several visually exciting spots around, as Tulsa is also home to Greenwood and the nation’s 1st Black Wall Street. We’d hang out at several of the popular black owned spots downtown, and ride the scooters (downtown) until they ran dead Lol. We’d also visit The Gathering Place,
another amazing giant park listed as Best in the country! Ive made LOOOTS of business friends during my journey, we wouldn’t have any dull moments Lol.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my Shoutout to my Husband Andra who planted the CEO seed in me and my family that helps me so much behind the scenes. He’s rolling lipbalms and theyre taking control of the kids when I have to show up in public, none of this progress would have happened as quickly without his/ their help.
