We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystle Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krystle, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I have been with Pampered Chef just shy of 13 years and during that time I have heard the phrase “work life balance” an endless number of times. Everyone is trying to find balance in their lives. They’re questioning how to juggle life, work, activities, kids, spouses, dreams and more. They want to know how to give it all the same attention, as the word “balance” implies. I learned years ago though, that work life “balance” is not a realistic goal. That phrase assumes that we are able to give every aspect of our lives an equal amount of focus and attention. When we think through that, it’s easy to come to the conclusion that giving equal time to every area of our lives is simply unrealistic. Instead, I have chosen to look at it from the view of attaining “harmony” in my roller coaster journey of life. There will be times when my personal life and the circumstances we are facing require more of my time. Other times it may be work that needs a higher level of my attention. This is when it’s important to communicate your goals so the family understands an adjustment may be necessary and hopefully rewarding. There needs to be a timeline and specific goals agreed upon together. It’s near impossible to have “harmony” without that component.

We tend to feel out of balance when we are not able to enjoy our journey. We place high expectations on ourselves that the average person simply isn’t capable of achieving. Then we beat up our perfectionistic personalities on-the-daily when we don’t check everything off the to-do list once again. I’ve come to accept that the to-do list will never end. It will always be longer than the time we have to accomplish everything on it. I am filled with joy and able to focus on those to-dos more often, when I have also allocated time to put my phone down, be present in conversations, and have mealtime with the family. It’s important to understand that the harmony we are seeking does not come from working ourselves to the bone to reach the ever elusive “top.” But, also from taking time to enjoy the precious moments that are flying by every day.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Whether people love it or hate it, they are in the kitchen every day. Pampered Chef Offers everything from high quality gadgets for chopping, beautiful pieces for serving and entertaining, and full sets of cookware to meal prep. We’ve got you covered! I love that with PC we have something for everyone. My passion is helping guests enjoy being in the kitchen and not dread the “what’s for dinner?” question we all hear on the daily! They can get excited for a new tool that makes cooking even more enjoyable, or make it not so awful if they just can’t stand it, since alas, people just insist on eating. LOL. Bringing families together in the kitchen and around the table is where memories and connections are made. It’s so fulfilling to be a little part of that journey in homes across the country! I also have the honor to partner with and lead our team members. Helping them achieve their dreams by stepping out of their comfort zone in order to accomplish possibilities for themselves and their families they thought impossible! It’s such a blessing to pass along what I’ve learned to others, so they too can experience the success they are looking for.

I’m most proud of my resiliency with God as my strength. I’ve held every title that PC offers and no matter what has come my way in almost 13 years, He has been right by my side to make it through just as He assured me all those years ago. He has given me Taylor and Ashlyn to be the biggest supporters. It’s become a family motto: “Jacksons don’t give up.” We find another way. We look ahead with hope when others say it’s time to give up.

I believe God has gifted me with the ability to connect with others through laughter, quick wit, and a compassionate heart. They are my superpowers. I love to invest in others and pray I can help have a positive impact on their life. I have a passion for developing others, creating a culture of community and positivity in our team. I pray daily God is using me to change lives. I want to be open and honest in my interactions so people know the real me. I love spending time with my family, watching movies together, traveling, being silly, cracking jokes, doing voice impressions, and bringing joy and smiles to others! I’m known for being OBSESSED with Christmas, loving Baby Yoda memes, and for my other dream of doing voice overs in a kids show/movie one day. I’m a Momma working from home and have the same ups and downs in life with hectic schedules, getting dinner on the table and trying to find harmony in it all, just like so many others. I encourage others to believe in themselves and I will be that belief for them until theirs catches up. I share about my ups and downs along my journey with my others so they are welcomed in with me and see that if I can do this, so can they!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When you come to our area, the sky is the limit for things to do and you can quickly fill up your itinerary! Definitely a few favorite places I would recommend stopping by to enjoy a meal during your stay! Bin303 in Rockwall has the best steak you could ask for and is located in a quaint old home in downtown. Wildwood Firewheel in Garland has incredible food, drinks, and a fabulous steak! Try the hanger steak or the chicken fried steak while you are there! Brunch at Intrinsic BBQ in downtown Garland is a delight and filled with so many flavors with unique dishes, plus board games to play with the kids, or the adult kids at heart. If you are a sushi fan, Kenzo in Murphy is a family owned hole in the wall spot not to be missed! Delicious food and Mr. Kim will make you feel right at home immediately! Tell him I sent you! For fun and entertainment, Strike and Reel in Garland has so many things to offer from bowling to movies, to arcade games and rock climbing. It’s perfect for just the adults or the whole family and easy to spend the whole day! Midieval Times in Dallas includes dinner and a show and full of action and fun the whole evening. Try out one of the many food tours in Dallas for a unique experience and view of the city you might not see otherwise.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, Taylor, has been my rock for thirteen years now! He encourages, supports and pushes me outside of my comfort zone each and every day! Life is not all rainbows and sunshine, and on the days I feel the storms are completely surrounding me, he is able to help me see the bright side. He reminds me of scriptures that are encouraging and filled with hope of God’s faithfulness in the past and His faithfulness for the future! A few times along my journey I wanted to give up, but Taylor had faith in me and has believed in me every step of the way, waiting for my belief to catch up. Our now 12 year old daughter, Ashlyn, also provides me with encouragement and my WHY for doing Pampered Chef! This business affords me the ability to be present in her life each and every day and all I need do is look at her, and I am reminded of why investing in this business is important. I dedicate this article to both of them and the blessing they are in my life!
