We had the good fortune of connecting with AMANDA PERDUE and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi AMANDA, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was working as an occupational therapist in the area and noticed there was very limited services for children with special needs. I had for years worked in a for profit hospital and felt that the area lacked a private practice that catered to the pediatric population.

Professionally I got to a point where I wanted to expand my knowledge and I felt entrepreneurship was would be a great adventure.

What should our readers know about your business?

“Playworks Therapy Group is a pediatric private practice that provides occupational, speech, and physical therapy services to children. PlayWorks Therapy Group of Texoma is more than just a Therapy Clinic — it’s a growing community! Dedicated to treating patients and families all across Texoma. At PlayWorks of Texoma we strive to provide the highest standard of care by providing a multi-disciplinary team approach. Our team is dedicated to children and families, striving to foster collaboration and tools to enable families to support their child’s needs.”

What sets us apart is we are female owned, multi-disciplinary clinic for the pediatric population. I am most proud of the relationship I am building the community. I believe my success is based mostly on my upbringing, hard work, and determination.

One of the biggest challenges was opening Playworks in the midst of covid, in June 2020. However, with persistence and long hours, and community support Playworks Therapy Group was able to succeed. The biggest lesson I have learned is to be open to diversity and change.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
