We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamanisha Berry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamanisha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When my husband and I relocated from Memphis, TN to Dallas, TX in 2019, we faced the challenge of managing a newborn and an 8-year-old son without any outside support. With my husband working full-time and my responsibilities at home, finding a traditional full-time job became difficult. Recognizing the need for flexibility to care for my baby and maintain a harmonious work-life balance, I made the decision to embark on the journey of starting my own business. This way, I could create a work schedule that suited my needs and allowed me to strike a meaningful equilibrium between work and family life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a Master Lash & Brow Artist and Instructor, I take great pride in my achievements and what distinguishes me from other artists in my area. One notable accomplishment is being the first and only African American to be inducted into the National Association of Lash Artists in the DFW region. I must say, this journey was far from easy, as I encountered numerous challenges along the way. However, through hard work, consistency and dedication, I have overcame every single obstacle. Throughout my journey, I have learned valuable lessons, with the most crucial being the importance of consistency. I make it a priority to promote and advertise my brand daily, ensuring that I stay relevant in the industry. My specialization lies in lash extensions and PMU, primarily catering to individuals who suffer from alopecia (thin/sparse eyebrows) or have undergone chemotherapy treatments. It is my passion to provide exceptional services for these individuals and help them feel their best.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Whenever I have family or friends visit the DFW, one of my must-visit spots for them has to be Texas Live, conveniently located near my salon in Arlington, TX. The vibrant people, welcoming environment, and lively atmosphere never fail to make everyone feel at home. Although my clubbing days are behind me, I still appreciate a great bar experience. In Dallas, Frankie’s Downtown has become one of my personal favorites, offering a fantastic ambiance and enjoyable drinks. It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the vibrant nightlife of the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my husband and children.
