We had the good fortune of connecting with Shametra (Mimi) Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shametra (Mimi), can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my business was my son and cousin both got shot and I wanted a business that empowered people safety wise without the use of guns.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
How I got to where I am in pure determination when I wanted to be up a just went harder. What I want the world to know about safety defense items and safety is never think you can’t be a victim. Empower yourself as much as possible there is never enough was to be safe.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend was in town I would take them to Lava Cantina to enjoy food and entertainment. We would also hang out and catch the light show at Epic Central park. Maybe get a drink or watch the game at Texas Live.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My business is definitely driven by my son and cousin then being shot made me want to empower people to protect themselves without guns. The person I would like to give credit to is my husband every time I wanted to give up he pushed me to keep going.
