We had the good fortune of connecting with Neha Dillard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Neha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At the time, I was a stay at home mom. With my new found skill set, we thought it would be a great way to bring in additional income while still being able to provide the time and attention our kids needed.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My husband and I run a home bakery in Royse City, TX. It’s called Neha Bakes. We started the business in 2020 and we specialize in custom cake designs. I love bringing our customers’ design vision to life!

As a kid, one of my favorite conversations with my mom was talking about running a cute little shop together someday. We spent hours in the kitchen, cooking and envisioning a charming storefront.

Fast forward to after marriage and kids, I started baking and decorating cakes as a hobby. Although I was persuing a bussiness accounting degree at the time, cake decorating became a passion and after lots of practice and research, we felt confident to turn it into a business!

It’s been a heck of a lot of work to get to where we are today. But it’s also been so rewarding. Life can be unpredictable, with moments that can shape our future and happiness. I believe we should always embrace and make the best out of everything life brings our way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely take them to Fable and Fire, a bookshop Bistro in Rockwall. It’s perfect for lunch or dinner with live music. We would then make a quick stop at Steve’s Nursery in Cash, TX and head on over to The Food Haul in Fate,TX. The variety of food trucks makes it a great spot for everyone to relax and enjoy!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I’d like to give a huge shoutout to my husband and business partner, Jason Dillard. He has been my strongest supporter since before starting the business!! I love doing business and life with him by my side.

I am also thankful to our wonderful family, friends and the community we live in. We often partner up with Royse City American Legion and Auxiliary Post 100 to help with their amazing mission of helping veterans in need and other organizations in the community. They have always welcomed us with open arms and allowed our kids to learn the meaning of giving back.
