We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrienne Murphy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adrienne, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success has been believing in myself & having a clear vision. Even during the most challenging times, I have found that as long as I have a clear vision to fall back on, success will come.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the founder and owner of The Bush Waxing Boutique, located in Fort Worth! My mission with The Bush is to change the waxing, and even the beauty industry, for the better. At The Bush, we focus on community involvement, client relationships, sustainability, self-love, and self-care. My goal with this business is to make everyone, no matter if you’re a client, a team member, or a community member, feel so beautiful, so confident, and so inspired to take on your day/week/month/life!

We are still in the start-up phase & any new business owner will tell you the first few years are full of growing pains, especially right after a global pandemic! The past two years have been a wild ride, but through it all, there has been these constant factors keeping me going… my community, my team & our clients! I am so proud of the growth The Bush has gone through since opening it’s doors just two short years ago. We now have a team of 4 service providers who, just like myself, believe in the mission of changing the beauty industry for the better.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you were visiting Fort Worth for the week here’s where I would take you: We would spend the first day in the Near Southside (my stomping grounds). I would of course recommend you get a wax & spray tan at The Bush to ensure you’re feeling your best for the duration of your trip to DFW. We could grab some coffee at Avoca, Cherry Coffee Shop, or breakfast at Paris Coffee Shop. We could spend the day walking up and down Magnolia Avenue exploring all of the locally owned shops and restaurants. My favorite restaurants on Magnolia include: Cane Rosso, Heim, Pie Tap, and Maggies R&R.

The next day we could head over to South Main & get lunch at The Bearded Lady or Coco Shrimp, spend some time playing board games at Game Theory, and then grab a drink at Nickel City on our way over to Bowlounge.

While you’re in town you’ve got to check out the Fort Worth Stockyards! There’s so much to do over there including the cattle drive, fun restaurants, and shops. I recommend you stay a night at The Drover, check out the local brews at Second Rodeo, eat at Joe T Garcias (not only for the food, but the patio is extravagant!), watch the cattle drive and go to a show at Billy Bob’s.

For shopping, I’d recommend we check out Clearfork. There are so many shops over there & also great places to eat! On Saturdays, there is a Farmer’s Market where you can grab local produce and handmade crafts.

I definitely recommend spending some time on the Trinity Trail, I love getting on the trail daily to get some movement in as well as take in all the views Fort Worth has to offer.

Another pastime I quite enjoy is visiting our museums, my favorites are the Modern Art Museum, Amon Carter, and Kimbell, but Fort Worth has so many museums to choose from, there’s a museum for everyone here in Fort Worth!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I could pick so many! During my career, I have looked up to many beauty industry entrepreneurs, the fact alone that they have been able to create something that I am aiming for proves to me that my goals are possible. Social media has made it so easy to find others within my niche creating similar businesses.Whitney Kilpatrick from Maven Hair Co. Fort Worth has been a huge source of inspiration and support. I would love to dedicate my shoutout to her & her team.
