We had the good fortune of connecting with Xander Bangz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Xander, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have been writing lyrics & poetry since 3rd grade and making Rap music for 14 years. It has always been a big part of my life and there’s never really been a question that it’s who I am and what I want to do, no matter what else may be going on with me at the time. My uncle, Jim Bilgere, is a career Artist travelling the world selling his paintings and is a big inspiration for me. He designed the cover art for most of my songs and continues to inspire me with his work around the globe. I just want to carry on the family name and continue in his path bringing the world more great music and art for years to come.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been making music for nearly 2 decades, but I feel as if I’m just getting started. Every time I’m in the studio working on something new, it feels like the first time all over again. I also feel as if I’m getting better and there is so much more to come. It keeps me going everyday, it gives me a reason to wake up in the morning, it’s like oxygen to my body. I believe that’s what makes my work special, I’m an Artist’s Artist, and you can feel my passion for what I’m doing. My goal is to spread the same passion through my music to as many people as possible. Music is for everybody, from all walks of life, and I just want other people to feel the impact in their life from music like I have because there is nothing else like it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve always been a huge sports fan, so if the Cowboys or Mavericks are playing I think it’s a must-see event if you’ve never been. Dallas was just ranked the #1 Sports Business city in America and it’s a huge part of the culture in Dallas. Another great event to check out is the Deep Ellyn Arts Fair, which features music and art from local Artists in the area. My Uncle Jim featured in his own booth this year selling paintings and I plan to perform on stage at next year’s festival.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Uncle, Jim Bilgere, for always inspiring me to follow my passion My Uncle, Brandon Kalmanson, for introducing me to Rap music
