We had the good fortune of connecting with Lil Sonata and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lil, what inspires you?
I’m inspired by all of the musicians that came before me from the impact they left for the future to grasp. My family inspired me to follow my dreams and to never stop no matter what. My friends inspired me to do better by telling me my music is trash so I can improve my sound.. My fans inspire me to keep on going saying I’m getting close to finding my own unique sound.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I make music that’s called jrip. It’s like the next phase of hip hop/ trap music or a sub genre. I got to where I am today by just practicing and never stopping and I feel like I my journey will never end. So far it hasn’t been easy. I’ve made a lot of songs I’ve deleted or never release because I felt they wasn’t good enough until one day i just kept posting and stopped deleting songs. The most important lesson i had learned so far is to never stop even when it gets hard. I want the world to know that I’m just me and that’s it

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend visited the area I would take them to my crib and make some music, vibe, watch some anime and get lifted. All we gonna eat and drink is creativity

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my mom and dad for lifting me up when I mess up. I want to shoutout my friends for reminding me me there’s always room for growth. Also I wanna shoutout my significant other Shida Da Mac for helping me build my image.
