We had the good fortune of connecting with Temi Adeyeri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Temi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My senior year of undergrad, I knew I wanted to do something outside of engineering. I could not do hair, or nails but I did have a gift for paying very close attention to detail and being very articulate. With those skills, I thought it would be great to go into the event industry since I have always been interested in design. I started doing full event design but decided I want to focus primarily on balloon design. I believe balloon design was my niche and I wanted to go deeper into the skill and perfect my craft.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being in the balloon artist industry has been such a blessing to me. Creating an unforgettable experience with balloon is so rewarding and seeing the smiles on my clients faces makes it just the best feeling in the world. I am very proud of myself for how far i’ve come.. I started this business knowing literally nothing about the balloon industry, I barely knew how to blow up a balloon but now I am creating things that I could have never imagined that I was capable of.
With the help of my mentor Amethyst Taylor, I am where I am today. She told me my strengths and weaknesses and helped me develop myself into the innovative and adaptable balloon artist that I am today. There has been a bit of adversity in my journey such as moving from Maryland to Texas. I had all of my clients and family in Maryland and moving to Texas I basically had no one. I had to rebuild my network and rebrand. However, I was very motivated to get back in the balloon industry so I began to network with different balloon artists and event planners. By networking, I was able to get my business up and running and gain community that is willing to help and support me through this transition.
Some lessons that I have learned along the way is to always stay updated with the latest trends and remain adaptable. Things are always changing and in order to stay relevant you have to be adaptable. Another lesson that I learned is that you have to put yourself out there wether it is through traditional marketing or social media. There is no way people can know about your business if you remain stagnant and do nothing. Good things come to those who take charge of their future and are proactive. The last lesson I learned is to be patient. Being patient is very vital in this industry because some days you will receive 10 inquires other days you will receive no inquires and that can be very discouraging but if you are patient you will learn to be okay with that.
I want the world to know that Elevated Creations Studio is a brand that will always go above and beyond for their clients to create a lifelong lasting experience.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting some places I would like to take her to are the Dallas Museum of Art, Klyde Warren Park, ArtPark at Trinity Groves, and the Katy Trail. Some food places I would take her to are Wabi House, Kai, Earls Kitchen + Bar, Serious Pizza, and HG Sply Co. Those are some of my favorite places to eat and explore.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Amethyst Taylor has been a monumental part in my journey. She believed in me when I did not know anything and took a chance on me. She took me in as her mentee and taught me basically all I needed to know. With the guidance of Amethyst, I learned the balloon artist industry in and out. Without her help, I would not be half of the balloon artist that I am now.
