We had the good fortune of connecting with SkyMajor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SkyMajor, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
My end goal is to have many connections and have the opportunity to connect with the best in the business. I want to have the total freedom and resources to do any music or film projects but also have the experience to help talented people with little resources. I know how hard it can be when you are very talented person but feel like you don’t have the resources or connection to make it. The biggest accomplishment will be doing many films and making many songs that inspire other creative people. Some artists I would like to collaborate is Silk Sonic, Tame Impala, Travis Scott, Khalid, Childish Gambino, B.K. Habermehl, SZA, and the list goes on. Hopefully one day I can win an award for my music production. In the film world I would like to accomplish making different like, SFI, horror, comedy, and documentary. I want to have long term connection with a sustainable fan base. With so many people living paycheck to paycheck these days, setting financial goals just make sense. Quite often, the end goal isn’t just money but financial freedom and peace of mind. Investing in commercial real estate another crucial goal of minds. Commercial real estate in particular can potentially deliver the appreciation and stable returns most investors are looking for, even during times of economic uncertainty. I would consider investing in an apartment complex, office space, light industrial or a self-storage facility.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
SkyMajor is a whole brand that consist of, music production, Film production, and clothes. I am most excited about inspiring people and collaborate with other creators to inspire the masses but I’m also uplifting and inspiring myself, through film and music. I want people to feel the emotions and the energies through my creations and have them try to understand the different elements of my creative process. My process is freedom throughout creation and go with flow and not having a set process to create. What sets me apart from others is my music is futuristic and original. I pride myself on being different as possible when creating. It was very hard trying to work a full time 40 hour work week and logging 12 hours a week of overtime on top of that and having enough time to make music in the studio. I had really write things down that needed to prioritize the little time that I had. Someone said to me, its only 24 hours in a day! Well I tried to use all 24 hours of the day. I knew that I had to keep working hard to invest in my dreams so that one day it would be full time doing music. The day finally came after being laid off from work forced me to become full time. Man it feels good! But challenging at times. Now I’m able do more projects during the week instead of the weekends and not be limited anymore. One major lesson I learned was respect. I believe respect is be part of being a successful creative person, having to work closely with different people in film space or music space. Respect In a creative environment promotes cooperation and makes it easier to achieve a common goal. That means accepting people even if there is a difference of opinion and treating people how I want to be treated in all situations. By doing so it will reflect well upon others and encourage them to be better people as well. It will create a cooperative work environment and through that can make anything more effective and time efficient. I’ve taken on all challenges because I witnessed how short life and career could be. I always worked so hard to invest in my business. I love being creative and a lot of times in the cooperate world, you cannot be as creative as you would like to be. The process is challenging because there will always be ups and downs, even thinking about giving up, but in the end the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing what you love is worth it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I always loved the uptown Dallas area. One of my favorite spots to eat is the Haywire which has great variety of food, drinks and great atmosphere. As far drinking goes, Happiest Hour is a hip bar and restaurant that features a rooftop lounge with stunning views of downtown and 4 full-service bars throughout the indoor/outdoor venue. The place has great music and I have had a great time during the day or at night time. Another fun activity to do is go to the gun range. There are several gun ranges in the Dallas area but prefer going to this gun range in called Eagle Peak Shooting Range. The gun range is outdoors and a lot of fun! Lastly, I would take you to Greenville Ave. Day or night, Lower Greenville Avenue is one of Dallas’ neighborhoods that should be on every visitor’s hit list. This place where you can eat, stay, party, shop , and has live music. Deep Ellum is known for its rich history, and now, some of the trendiest spots in town. Whether you’re an art fan, foodie, or simply looking for a fun night out. There are plenty of activities to do in Deep Ellum. Beyond eating out, going on a walking tour of the murals, or listening to some live music, you can check out the shops along Main Street. Here, visitors can chow down on everything from mouthwatering barbecue at Pecan Lodge, artisanal pizzas at Cane Rosso and northern Chinese street food at Monkey King Noodle, to gourmet burgers at Twisted Root, pub grub at Angry Dog and haute cuisine at Twenty-Seven. The Deep Ellum neighborhood is full of stunning artwork. You don’t even have to visit a gallery if you don’t want to. Sometimes I just walk around with my camera taking a lot of videos of the area. So, Grab your camera, and your best walking shoes!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I really want to dedicate this to all the people that has supported me through the years and believe in me. I’m from Tyler, Texas East Texas raised. I’m from musical family where everybody could sing or at least could play instruments. My grandfather believed in me at the age of 2 years old, beating on old hymn books in church. He told people to leave me alone and make music because music is in me. That is how became a musician. I started playing drums and switched to piano and the organ. My mom was also I musician that started me off on the piano and teaching me the basics. My mom would make practice during the week even though I would be getting frustrated because I couldn’t play what I was hearing. My Uncle Broderick is Very talented organ player and piano player that always inspired me to be great. He allowed me to sit in his church rehearsals and eventually It got to the point where he would be at the mixing board in the back, and I would be playing by myself. That gave me a lot of confidence cause lord knows my uncle is hard on you! This guy in neighborhood name Salís introduced me to music software called Fruity Loops. This software taught me the basics of building a beat with sounds and using a computer and meant a lot for him to show me a different side of music other than being a musician. Another person that was inspiring in my life was Keandrea aka Kj. I met him because I was filling in for him on keyboard when he was on tour with Dru Hill. He help me advance my skills on the keyboard and taught me how to arrange tracks on the keyboard. Also, he showed me how to record studio sessions using this software called Nuendo. I come from a family of hard-working people and seeing this while growing up made me into the person I have become today. I believe growing up in the country really made me appreciate a lot of little things in life.
