We had the good fortune of connecting with Savannah Regensburger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savannah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
In my 27 years of life, I have witnessed and felt the deep connection between the brain and the gut. We all have a story…here’s mine. Fitness, health, and wellness all started at a young age for me. I started playing sports when I was only a few years old, but I fell in love with softball which I played all throughout high school. Sadly, six traumatic brain injuries left me unable to continue playing. In addition to losing my sport, my brain no longer functioned the same and I was lost in trying to figure out what life would look like for me. I couldn’t read books, I couldn’t look anyone in the eye when they spoke to me, I gained over 30 pounds, and I was the most depressed I have ever been.

What seemed to be the end actually was just the beginning. Over time, I learned that food, movement, sleep, hydration, stress management, and connecting with others were key to my brain’s and my body’s recovery. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience, my Master’s in Medical Nutrition, and a certification in mindfulness and yoga. Learning about how the brain, gut, and entire body function together truly saved my life. I have no idea where I would be without it. THAT is why I started Rooted In Health, to help other people experience the same thing.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Rooted In Health is more than just a coaching business. I personally combine the aspects of online fitness and nutrition coaching with my education as a medical nutritionist. It is all about teaching people lifelong health and wellness and teaching them how to make it sustainable long-term.

Building a business and brand has been the hardest thing that I have ever done. I failed my way to success, truly. I never had taken a business class nor did I know the first thing about starting a business. But it has without a doubt been the best decision I have ever made. It fuels my soul to help others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
OMG! I LOVE going to the Stockyards. It’s truly so much fun day or night. When people come to visit, we walk around the Stockyards during the day and get some drinks and go shopping! We also love going to Hotel Drover for a drink and a bite to eat! Then we start the evening at Second Rodeo and hit the town for some dancing at night!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom deserves all of the love. She is the person to take out loans so that I could be the first person in our entire family to ever attend college. Without her and her support, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
