We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenyetta Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenyetta, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Superior Health Services helps all communities in all areas. We service those who live in under-privileged communities as well as those who live in suburban areas. By our staff coming to assist clients in the comfort of their home, this impacts the progression of their overall health. This allows clients to be in a familiar environment while still giving them a sense of independency. Not only do we provide that safe security, this gives family members a sense of security and relief as well. The community benefits from these services because you don’t have to go looking for someone to give a helping a hand, we will arrive at your door.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I received my Bachelor’s of Science degree at Western Michigan University where I studied Interdisciplinary Heatlh Studies. I then went on to receive a Master’s degree in Health Administration from Central Michigan University and this led me to a career of over 10 years in Human Resources specializing in Leave of Absence. I believe my studies and profession has prepared me to operate a healthcare company because I am able to view healthcare from a multitude of lenses. I am able to focus on the problem at hand as well as discover the origin of the problem to begin with. I am able to communicate with a high level of emotional intelligence that displays empathy and compassion, while still performing as an advocate and reliable resource for our clients and surrounding communities.
One of the many lessons I learned along the way is to remain faithful to my purpose and dedicated to my work. Without believing in yourself, your purpose, and your mission in life, it would be hard to remain dedicated to what you are trying to do. There will be sleepless nights, there will be times when your progress seems stagnant, there will be times when you are simply not motivated to continue, but if you believe that you are operating in your purpose, you must see it through.
I want the world to know that serving those around me has always been embedded in me. It is a bonus that the line of business I am in lined up to be who I am as a person. I believe in helping those who may not be able to help themselves. I believe in making myself as resourceful as possible for those who don’t have access to as many resources. I believe in supporting my community and my beliefs are the foundation in which Superior Health Services stand on.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live for good food and fun, so, to show a friend a good time, I would start our weekend off at a nice brunch. This can range from a buffet brunch at 5th Tavern, an upscale dine in at Beverly Hills Grill, or a classy but cool brunch with a live dj at Petty Cash in Detroit, MI. After brunch, there’s the mall. We can either frolic around town and do some shopping at the store fronts in Royal Oak and Birmingham, or hit Somerset Mall in Troy, or head out to Novi and visit 12 Oaks Mall. For an early evening dinner, roof tops are the best option, especially in the summer. Sedona Taphouse has a marvelous rooftop view that’s paired with delicious food & drinks. Surrounding areas include places like The Hub where there a tons of different activities to partake in such as fowling and axe-throwing. If they are looking for something a little more chilled, there’s always the movies that aren’t too far.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to recognize my aunt Dr. Carolyn Carter, who was very instrumental in the startup of Superior Health Services. My Aunt has an extensive background in education and entrepreneurship as well as developing businesses. She ensured that Superior had access to multiple resources and guided us in mentorship.
