Meet Natalia Veronica Jones | Artist & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalia Veronica Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalia Veronica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always loved sketching and drawing since I was a child growing up in New Orleans. When I decided to start my own business, I knew it would somehow incorporate art. After studying Fashion Design, I also began showing my original artwork in various art galleries. While it was great being able to bring my art to individuals, I wanted to create a line that made my art accessible to more people. In that moment I decided to start creating handcrafted products that featured my original gallery exhibited artwork.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I began learning how to draw the human form I started with traditional images in books. As I got older I turned my attention to fashion photographer. I would use fashion magazines as a guide to sketch images of figures in uncommon positions. The use of exaggerated posing heavily influenced my style of artwork. Once I determined that this was the path I wanted to take with my art, I started creating paintings that reflected classical scenes with a modern twist. With all pursuits, there’s always trial and error. I created many different products before landing on my core pieces. I learned that you have to be patient and there is often more than one way to achieve a goal.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As an artist, I believe it is very important to support local businesses. One of my favorite areas for shopping local is the Bishop Arts District. You can have a wonderful day of shopping in stores like Marcel’s or grab a great bite to eat at Paradiso. For a luxe evening out, Nobu in the Crescent is a great place to have cocktails and a lychee martini. Anywhere I travel I like to visit the museum or a few galleries. I would make time to visit the Dallas Museum of Art and grab lunch while we are there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been fortunate to have supportive parents that have always encouraged my creativity. My mother is an amazing seamstress and my father is an architect. Watching them create garments and structures truly influenced what I have been able to accomplish. I owe them the biggest thank you and I appreciate their continued support.
