We had the good fortune of connecting with Vincent Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vincent, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always been into art ever since I was a kid. I was interested in anything that let me express my artistic creativity. With barbering my clients are my canvas and most of my clients give me the freedom to bring their look back to life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my personality. I like to make jokes and have the whole shop laughing. A barbershop shouldn’t be so serious, everyone needs good vibes because you never know what someone is going through that day and may need a good laugh to cheer them up!

I’m most proud of my growth in life. I went from doing 3 yrs in prison to now being a successful business owner of 2 barbershops called TX Barber Cartel. Never let your mistakes define who you are! I didn’t want to be another statistic. I do this to prove that no matter your mistakes you can do great things in life!

Getting to where I am today professionally was all about being consistent and never giving up. I’ve always been a hustler and promoted myself even when I was just in barber school. I wanted to be one of the best in the industry and be known for a mind that dreams bigger than people think is realistic.

Lessons I’ve learned along the way “We all make MISTAKES, how we correct them is what makes all the difference between success and failure.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’re definitely gonna go eat tacos at Tres Betos Taqueria! I recommend the Beto Tray which has a little of everything they serve there. The hood has the best tacos!

I’m a movie buff so visit the Coyote Drive-in for the old school movie experience!

Drinks we can walk down 7th street and let it take you to your happy place! Plenty of good music, great mix of people and good vibes!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family! My family has been there beside me the whole way. Through the good and the bad. Pushed me to do great things and never give up! To my clients because I wouldn’t be here without them supporting journey and my craft. My barbers because they make me want to be the best owner I can be and guide them to be good owners themselves when their ready to start their journey.
