We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Dickholtz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued a career as a creative because I love the balance of working with my hands and getting to utilize my ideas & visions through to execution. Getting to build looks & characters of all walks of life while making a living doing it is what I set out in this industry to do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been working as an artist for 9 years, 8 years as a freelancer & 7 years in filmmaking. I have worked such a wide vary of projects, from feature films to red carpets to commercials & fashion weeks. I don’t like to pin myself into any category, I am proud of the fact I can handle pretty much any style someone is going for, plus I work very fast. I started out in cosmetology school while in highschool, in my hometown in Oklahoma. From there I moved to NYC when I was 21 where I learned under the best of the best in the industry & worked with some of the biggest names. Like Gordon Ramsey, Ariana Grande, Matthew McConaughey, Penn Badgley, Julia Garner & so many more. I will forever be thankful for my years in NYC as well as any time I have the pleasure of traveling back for work. I had a project I worked on that was nominated for an Oscar back in 2021 & I would say that is my proudest accomplishment so far.

I love what I do & I love that it keeps me on my toes. I was told when I was starting out that an artist needs to be comfortable being uncomfortable & that is something I now live by.

In terms of the style of my craft, I like to keep things raw, real, intentional, seemingly effortless with a deft touch. If I’m trying to make a statement or for something to stand out, I want it to be cohesive with the world it is in.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I recently moved to Dallas about 6 months ago but I stumbled upon my favorite area while seeking out a salon space for my private clientelle off of Knox & Henderson. It is called Salon 5014. I often have friends book an appointment with me while they are in town & I will take them next door to Barcelona. It’s definitely my favorite restaurant dinner spot. I also love Le Bilboquet or Toulouse for brunch, my husband & I are a sucker for a good benedict. I am always swinging by the Village Baking Co. to pick up a coffee or baked good to share (or eat all myself).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Austin is my constant support and encouragement in everything I do. We met while working for a production company & we enjoy getting to work together as much as possible. He is more organized than myself as well as more timely & tech savvy while I tackle the creative sides which makes us a great team for projects of any kind. We co-founded our company A&A Cinema in lieu of the films & productions we take on.
