We had the good fortune of connecting with Zosia West and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zosia, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
The end goal for being a musician is being able to sustain yourself financially. These are my views alone. However if music can pay my bills and allow me to have some financial freedom I feel I was successful.

They always say end while you’re on top. If I’m fortunate enough to do headlining tours and they’re selling out. I would deem that as a win. I would love to be performing well into my 70s if there was a demand.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Reign of Z is a touring rock group. Our members are from all over. What sets us apart is all the songs the audience hears is autobiographical. I make sure my life experiences are known in the music. The purpose is to create an atmosphere where people feel safe and they can be their authentic self. We want everyone who comes to a show know we’ve been there and to keep surviving.

As far as my journey on this path it’s far from easy. It requires alot of support from friends and family and unfortunately alot of debt. The music industry isn’t what it use to be so alot of bands are the label. So we pour everything we have into our content, merchandise, touring, videos, recordings. We have no one funding us but ourselves and alot of maxed out credit cards.

As far as our story we’re definitely a survival band. We’ve had member changes, vehicle breakdowns on tours, a civilian hit into our trailer on a national tour and died, we had covid on a national tour and didn’t know. We lost have our band and had to rebuild. We had a manager steal from us. It’s been nothing but a non stop freight train.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to black forge which is an independent coffee house that also houses live music. Followed by onion maiden which is a local independent vegan restaurant and probably to finish the night catch a show either at Mr.smalls or black forge.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I absolutely have to give credit to Berg. Aka Stephen Berg. He’s the CEO of Reign of Z. If he didn’t believe in this or myself I don’t know where I would be. He’s the bass player in the band but he wears a lot of hats and makes sure everything behind the scenes goes off without a hitch!
