We had the good fortune of connecting with Muñeca Delgado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Muñeca, what do you attribute your success to?
Somethin Sweet LLC and the success associated with my brand is forever evolving. Currently, my most important factor is flavor. Growth, creativity and community influence my recipes.
As an Oak Cliff native; catering to those deeply rooted as well as new comers is the vision. Essentially, everyone will have access to Somethin Sweet when they are craving just that.

Though currently a one woman operation, my daughter has the fire within to continue my legacy.
Being her only parent, success is in demand and endurance will always have the upper hand.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Celebratory art you can enjoy! Doesn’t that sound fun? My art matches flavor with design. Its so rewarding to present my product and get positive feedback twice. Initially my supporters comment on its beauty and later share their thoughts on enjoying my creation.
Typically there isn’t cake left because everyone indulged on its excellence. The best way to explain my journey would be trial and error developed success. The only easy part in all this was deciding on my name as it carries from my childhood.
Post dinner I would always ask for “somethin sweet” and it makes absolute sense for my bakery to have that title. Thus, the start of Somethin Sweet LLC

I’m most excited about the journey leading up to my storefront; as brick and mortar is my ultimate goal.
Currently operating out of my Oak Cliff home between Kiest park and Bishop Dunne.
All products are made from scratch and decorated per customer request. This is what I consider my startup.
My business will grow as I grow as a creator and entrepreneur.

Effective time management, zero distractions, alongside a well organized workspace is how I plan to get the most out of my potential.
My labels tend to carry a heavy sense; single mother, head of household, and full time employee. However when you are truly passionate about your dream it becomes a reality. This is something I genuinely enjoy so good energy goes into every order no matter the size. I’m looking forward to creating for Oak Cliff and Dallas in 2023.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Supporting local businesses is always my go to. I believe we have some amazingly creative entrepreneurs in Oak Cliff. The essence of local business community here has inspired me to manifest my dreams.

Breakfast spots to enjoy would be Oddfellows ,Johnathan’s or something new.
Tribal All Day cafe for lunch y hay comida en la casa para cenar.
I enjoy creating cuisines with my guests.
(I have two ovens // one for Somethin Sweet and another for personal use)

Some entrepreneurs I’ve crossed paths with would be Iris and BB. Owners of Luna Metaphysical. I love crystals and my homies are all well aware. Bringing anyone here is like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow with its serene ambiance.
Luna metaphysical is my go to place for incense, palo santo, and sage.
Next would just be right across the street to Crecer; a salon/plant shop owned by lovely ladies (who are also sisters) Cynthia and Nataly.
Cynthia creates vibrant terrariums along with maintaining the plant life and Nataly has done an excellent job of curating immaculate vibes along with her artistry as a hairdresser.
Bishop arts is a Gem.
On another day we would all decide on which museum to visit and find the best sushi nearby.

I am genuinely an introvert so I enjoy entertaining company at home and creating. Those who connect with me match energy and time is well spent.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Ultimately God, for granting me this gift of creativity, ambition, and healthy amounts of delusion. To my mother who inspired this idea as I grew up watching her decorate cakes.
My Dad’s consejos, originality, and my daughter’s resilience.
The immense support I receive from both parents is unmatched. Their help consists of assistance with my daughter to delivering big orders.

Hurdles on my path are existent and grand but goal oriented energy, passion, and confidence in my product allows me to keep pushing for success and beyond.
I have a very supportive core family alongside a stack of self help literature regarding chakras, mental health, and philosophy.
I believe everything is energy so I’m constantly projecting positivity when addressing Somethin Sweet LLC.

In 2023 my entrepreneurship is expanding.

To the owners of Mando’s Spot and Everyday Works, thank you for encouraging and believing in me. Both Mando and Melonie have extended their space to Somethin Sweet LLC.
Stef (Estefania) owner of Lucky Duck Gallery in Duncanville. Stef hosted my very first pop up which was such a learning experience!
Wishing the best of luck and blessings to their growth.

Lastly Shoutout DFW for the highlight! It’s all greatly appreciated
