We had the good fortune of connecting with Raquel Jarjoura and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raquel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was very familiar with boutiques before opening my own! I shopped, and actually worked for a boutique for over a year. My thought process when starting Hannah Mae was to be able to provide women no matter the age with affordable clothing that will make them feel confident and beautiful!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I opened my business at the age of 16 years old! I have always been very mature for my age, and had a very driven mind. I started working a full time job at the age of 17. I was in insurance for a year while in high school. I constantly wanted to work, make money, and be better at my job no matter what I was doing. I am proud to say that I take pride in my work. I am most excited because back in May I was able to pursue Hannah Mae Boutique full time right out of high school. I opened up a storefront here in historic downtown Wylie! I partnered with two other small businesses to create a boutique where you are supporting not 1 but 6 different small businesses! The Blend on Ballard has been open for about 7 months now!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would love to show them around to the places here in my town! I would bring them to downtown Wylie! We would shop all the small businesses on our street, grab some lunch at Frankies Casa, and visit Isync Exotics right here in Wylie!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my parents! My dad has owned his own business for over 25 years, so having someone who is familiar with being a business owner to be there along my journey was such a privilege. My mom has always been my number 1 supporter from helping me inventory, do lives sales, and travel to crafts shows! She was always there to help in any way possible.
