We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Brocks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erika, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” This quote has always stuck with me because that is where I want to be in life, happy and living everyday to its fullest.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Coming from a small town Clovis, California I had always dreamed of becoming successful and owning my own business. Taking a leap of faith and moving to Fort Worth, Texas as a young woman, with little to nothing was one of the biggest decisions I have ever made. I learned that it takes a lot of hard work and determination to get where you want to be. In Bloom Events & Decor was created because I wanted to help others celebrate any special occasion with premium quality products without spending a fortune. It wasn’t the easiest of paths but I wouldn’t be here where I am today if I didn’t go through those hurdles.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Dallas Fort Worth metroplex has so much to offer. I love how I can go from wearing cowgirl boots at the Fort Worth Rodeo to wearing heels and having a few drinks in Uptown Dallas all in one day! One of my new favorite places to eat in the Stockyards is called Caterina’s. I am a sucker for some Italian food and this place is magnificent! An excellent cocktail bar near Uptown is the Tipsy Alchemist. I think that’s what made me fall in love with Texas, that no matter where I go I’ll never be disappointed.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the guidence and encouragement from my friend Jamileth Gando. She is one of the most hard working and determined young women I know. While working a full time job, she is also a fashion blogger, model and owns her own online boutique. Seeing Jamileth succeed at all of those accomplishments shows me that I can do anything I put my mind to.
