We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyra Bankz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyra, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My business just took off so fast. I started November 2021. I had no idea the amount of support I would receive.  I began to get booked more and more before I knew it, I had 3 clients a week. My work life balance changed drastically. Being that I’m a full-time therapist I worked full-time hours 6 days a week. I had to learn to take time after work for clients and then my self-care time . I think balance is very important. If you don’t have any balance in your work life you will get overwhelmed with your life and work. It’ll just be mixed together.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In my Career as a Recreation therapist, I currently work at a 28-day rehab program for adults. In my career you must teach and help others to enjoy their leisure time. That’s when you start to learn your self-care time is therapeutic and the free time for things you enjoy is also very important in life. I work to make sure that every client I come across in their 28 day stay they leave understanding and knowing what they enjoy in their leisure time If I can share anything with the community, I would share enjoy your self-care time do things you enjoy that make you feel good and are therapeutic to your soul.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first place I would take my best friend is Razzoos that’s one place I always have to go to when I come into the area! Then we would go shop at some of the outlets for a while and later that evening we would go for dinner at XOXO dining Hall, it’s a super cute place for dinner drinks and pictures! Later at night we would go to Deep Ellum to some bars to drink and hangout. Also, before leaving we would visit Spa castles for a relaxing day before heading back home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to first shout out to Amy Young owner of Lashcity318 for nominating me.    Also my mother is a hair beautician. I grew up in the beauty industry.
