We had the good fortune of connecting with Brigitt Graves and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brigitt, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My love is for the Seniors who are no longer able to care for themselves, remembering my late sister 1st Lady Glynis Brown showing so much love for the elders at church every Sunday I watched as she come out her office and chat and hug each one that she could, and to see the smile that showed upon their face was priceless and very overwhelming to me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am overly caring for the seniors in our care, I believe whole heartly in treating everyone with respect, showing them love and spending time getting to know them, When i first started in this field as a Home Health Assistant, I remembered going into this home where blind lady lived and she was very rude to me and all i could think about is leaving and never coming back, and then I thought I will not be defeated by this lady she needs me and everyday I went back until she and I started to talking and to find out that she was one of one’s who started mobile physicians, she finally said I was a nurse.
The lesson that I’ve learned along the way is to never give up, God is always with you.
What I want the world to know is that when you pray and ask God for directions in and over your life , be patient He’s working things out for you. I grew up in Eastwood my parents worked day in and out just so our family could have a decent life, we didn’t have much, but we appreciated what we had , I raised my children up to be thankful for the little that you have, take care of everything that is given to you, be respectful because it goes a long way and to keep God in your life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My friend (Annette Edwards) just retired and loves shopping so we would definitley go to the mall, we both like Salt Grass and Bob’s Steakhouse, she is from Lake Charles Louisiana so we visit the Fort Worth Stockyards, find something at the movies and the other time is for us just sitting and laughing and catching up although we talk everyday.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my late sister Glynis Brown, and to my mother Katie Womack who’s always saying a prayer for my strength.

First of God deserves the highest recognition, without Him I am nothing.

So in life it’s always someone that is in your corner and your biggest cheerleader I couldn’t have done this without my daughter Nickeah Lane and my son Jaylon Houston, and my Sundance Family. and most importantly I saved the best for last my husband Selby Graves Sr.
