We had the good fortune of connecting with April Pelton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi April, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One thing I make known about my business is that it focuses on anti-bullying, spreading kindness, and inspiring others to do the same. But, people may not know how much this business has helped me grow to see my strength and true beauty; I found healing in the process. Being a business owner has boosted my confidence and showed me how to love myself! Now, I never walk with my head down. Instead, I walk with the joy of the Lord in my heart. I know that everything I’ve been through works together for my good.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a published author of three books: The Grove of 100 Wishes, I AM I CAN I WILL, and An Enchanted Tale With A Twist. As I stated earlier, my books focus on anti-bullying, kindness, and inspiration, but they also incorporate education and self-care. This business is also like a mommy-daughter business because my first two books have workbooks that go with them to teach reading and writing skills. I’ve been in business for over two years and could not have gotten to where I am without the support of my family, friends, and community. My family helps a lot with running and teaching me the ins and outs of this business. My first book focused on anti-bullying because of what I went through early on in my first year of middle school. Luckily, I turned a negative into a positive through self-expression in my writing. If this business has taught me anything, it is to take the risk. What is life if we don’t step out on faith and risk making it better and brighter? This world is full of risk takers. I have never heard of a success story that has happened without risks. Taking chances on opportunities has taken me far. If I never took the risk of starting a business, even when I was afraid, or even being bold enough to walk up to someone at the mall to talk about my books, I would not have had the same level of success I have now.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting the area, I would first take them to eat breakfast at Seven Mile Cafe. It is a great vegan breakfast spot and has fresh food. Next, I would take her to Sundance Square so she can see all the artwork, and we can have a photoshoot. Next, I would take her to the Parks Mall, and we would go shopping and try ice skating. Then, I would take her to Clearfork so she can try Joy Macaroons! They are so delicate and delicious! Yum! Then, I would watch a movie with her at the AMC theatre. Next, we would go to King Spa to relax. And lastly, we would go to Gaylord Texan to get a meal and chill for the rest of the night! These are all the places where I have had my best memories (other than ice skating cause I have not tried it yet), but I know a day full of fun memories and experiences is something I would want to give her!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family. I could not do what I do without their help and support, especially my parents, grandparents, and aunt, who helped me get this business started. Without them, there would not be an Inspired by April LLC.
