We had the good fortune of connecting with Shai Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shai Moore, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
By the end of my career, I want to have established a reputable beauty brand and have my own beauty company with other artists working with me. I want to build a company that is known for prestige and customer satisfaction. I want everyone to think of high value when they speak on my brand. I want to create faces on big names and become a household brand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love the art of makeup. I truly enjoy creating various looks on different people and seeing the transition from beginning to end. I believe that what sets me apart from others is that you’ll truly get a one on one, personal experience with me. It’s not just a money transaction. I actually want to know how you’re feeling, what you like and don’t like, what you want to enhance or diminish, and how I can make you feel your best. I like to build relationships with my clients and ensure that I’m providing an awesome service.

My most artistic form comes out in special effects makeup artistry while using body paint and prosthetics. I enjoy creating different characters and bringing stranger things to life.

My business has grown a lot over the last year. I am very proud of how far I’ve come and look forward to more growth and expansion. It has not been an easy road. The most difficult thing about being an entrepreneur and following your passion is the highs and lows of the business. Learning to utilize social media to your advantage and figuring out the ropes in business has been very challenging. I have business friends who have stepped in to help me out and try to assist me in becoming more business savvy. Also, learning the importance of networking and putting myself out there has been the main factor in growing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well we’d most definitely eat good so I’d have to take my friend by Fogo De Chao to enjoy the endless cuts of meat. We’d go to Andrettis to release our inner child and have fun. We would definitely go to Spa Castle to relax, get massages, and unwind a bit. We’d catch a yoga class at Black Swan Yoga. We’d grab more food at Te Deseo, eat and have fun at ESO mimosa bar, and eat more at Skyblossom’s rooftop. We’d bar hop in Deep Ellum and catch a hookah lounge to end it all.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been blessed to be surrounded and supported by encouraging women my entire life. Of course my family and dearest friends but, there’s so many other women that I have met, that have come into my life for a season and some for a lifetime that have motivated me and pushed me to be the best that I can be. I want to give credit to every black woman that is genuinely supporting another because your words and your support is always needed.
