We had the good fortune of connecting with Jomeca Hawkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jomeca, how do you think about risk?
My thoughts behind starting my business started about 3 1/2 years ago prior to moving from Louisiana to Texas. I wanted to come here to pursue my dreams of bringing a entrepreneur.. I chose Dallas because my love for Texas started when I moved from New Orleans to Houston due to the devastation of losing everything in hurricane Katrina. I moved back home to New Orleans to care for my dad who was terminally ill with cancer. After the passing of my dad I moved here to Dallas. Losing my dad change something in me. I would apply for jobs and started working for other companies, nothing seems to quite work out. I realized that losing the rock to my family and being raised in a single-parent household by my dad only. Losing him force me to be the leader that he raised me to be. Being the oldest I could no longer shadow my dreams. It was time for me to be the woman my dad raised me to be. Over the 20 years in this Industry. I’ve met, and worked with some amazing people who’s embraced me on my Journey. I’ve thought about doing this a few time, The timing was always off. This time it was different. It’s was like a spiritual message that I hade to take a chance, literally everything I need, wanted took place. I feel like those times before wasn’t my time, now it was my time. I stepped out on faith, Literally that’s all I had.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
How did I get to where I’m at today professionally my career started back in 2002 at the Ritz Carlton New Orleans working there as a housekeeper. 6 months later I transferred to the spa as a locker room attendant. I’ve always loved the beauty industry and being around so many professionals in the industry encourage me to go back to school for cosmetology. I started working as a manicurist. I received feedback from clients who had massages in the spa prior to getting their manicures with me that gave me feedback that my massage was better then the full body they had just received. That encourage me to enroll In massage school. In 2010 I went back to school for massage therapy. It was there I found my true passion. Being a massage therapist does not feel like work to me. I’m genuinely gratify when I’m helping others, with massage therapy. I’m able to do that all the time. What sets me apart from others This is truly my passion I’ve traveled all over and studied so many things like Sports, Cupping, Deep tissue massage , prenatal massage, aromatherapy massage, Thai massage Swedish, Lymphatic massage, neuromuscular therapy, Ashiatu bare foot massage. Im also trained in body contouring and offer a wide range of services with body sculpting. As a cosmetologist I’m also train in the field of hair, skin and nail and also waxing. I’m Truly a one stop. Was it easy? No. losing my dad and both of my brothers over the last 10 years was very difficult. So many trials, tribulations and setbacks happened. I stayed strong, consistent and no matter how much time passed. I never gave up on my dreams. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned over time is never spend a lot of time doubting yourself. If you truly believe, want something. Send time Finding the resources, means to pursue it. Don’t waste time second guessing yourself. Just do it!
