We had the good fortune of connecting with Zac Morgan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zac, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Running my business full-time has been a dream of mine since 2014. You think, “Yeah, that would be cool to do someday.” but year after year goes by and it’s no closer to being a reality than it was yesterday. At some point, you finally have to have a conversation with your family, put some dreams on the table, prioritize what’s most important for the people you’re taking care of, and decide that it’s time to take a calculated risk.

I know my heart. I know what I’m good at and what I’m not good at. And I know that I’m going to have more buy-in to my vision than anyone else’s. When you know that deep down in your core, you know that the only way you’re going to produce at 100% is if you’re spending your 40 hours a week building something that’s based on your vision and values. Spending your time doing anything else is busy work with a paycheck. And if I’m going to spend that kind of time away from my wife and kids every week, I want to make sure it’s doing something that has a purpose to me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Motive Marketing is a creative and marketing agency based in Keller, TX. Our mission is to be Chick-Fil-A to everyone we work with: quality service, integrity, simplicity, and a smile. What set us apart is our real, raw care for everyone we work with. Our services look exactly like every other agency in DFW, but our care and generosity live at the core of everything we do. We like to work with local businesses in DFW so we can stay closer to the brand, drop in, and build a relationship.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My perfect week in DFW would be a day at Six Flags with the kids, a quick trip over to the Dallas Aquarium, maybe a trip to the top of the Reunion Tower. Hop over to Twisted Root Burger in Arlington for a lunch, Torchy’s Tacos, Legacy Hall in Plano. Nothing too fancy for us. Rodeo Goat in Fort Worth. Friday night would be the late showing of Four Day Weekend in downtown Fort Worth with a late-night snack at an IHOP somewhere.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to my wife, kids, parents, leaders, and every friend who’s taken the time to refine me as a person, not just as a teammate.
