Meet Nasya XO | Singer/Songwriter, Producer, Engineer & Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nasya XO and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nasya XO, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My imagination planted dreams and visions within me since I was a child. That gave me automatic confirmation that this career/life path was destined for me. Using 7 years of dance lessons to get my performing itch out, I always knew that I needed to be on stage. My first time being put on a platform to use my abilities to heal was during church in my younger days. I took numerous special arts, choir, and theater classes during school to enhance my skills. Now I’ve taken on the journey of producing, recording, engineering myself and others.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In my early childhood I was into by performers such as Michael Jackson, Aaliyah, Brandy and other old school influencers. Today, I am compared to artists such as Dej Loaf, H.E.R, Jhene Aiko, Kaash Paige & more. I feel what separates me from these comparisons is my extreme versatility. As well as producing and writing my own songs, I am able to venture off into cinema and tv shows too. Any industry or genre of music that I touch has the potential to produce global results. In 2020, I launched my own clothing brand and worked on the graphic art myself, I hope to start that up again. I also decided to take on photography, I took a break but I’d love to start again. It took a lot of investing in myself to get to where I am today. I’ve learned that stagnancy and uncertainty is common on this journey. Some days it’s burdensome to stay optimistic in the midst of times like this. Faith and ambition has kept me alive and hungry. I want the world to know that there was a period in my life where I sing and danced in the mirror while holding a hair brush as a little girl. Being from a small city like Shreveport, Louisiana, that’s all I could do. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth and if it wasn’t for my mothers’ sacrifices, I would probably still be drowned in poverty and hopelessness. The legacy I’m building came from dirt and I won’t stop until I see my dreams come to fruition.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The scenery in Downtown, Dallas, Texas is escalating. There’s so many new and improved ways to have fun. In the sun, I love visiting White Rock Lake for kayaking. Take a stroll through Klyde Warren park, walk and be intrigued by street art or even get a ticket to an art museum. The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is a beautiful sight to see. Once the sun is down and the city lights are on, I like to see what’s poppin in Deep Ellum. Go to the Virgin Hotel and check out whose Djing. Local organizations like Vibes Texas, Creators Don’t Die,The Don P Agency, and more usually have year round events and shows. If I want to get a little loose I’ll make my way to some clubs, lounges, and open mics located downtown.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A lot of individuals have played a part in my growth.
I would like to give a shoutout to Director Jae Dyer (@directorjdyer) for initiating my preparation to be in front of cinematic cameras. He also took on a mentor role and heightened my creativity with bold and dramatic ideas. I am grateful to be connected to him (DW Studios LL) and Parrish Street Media.
Next , the brand ,@barelylegalglobal, opened a door into the fashion world for me. I am now surrounded by gifted designers, models that I can collab and build relationships with ultimately taking my career to the next level.
A few local photographers, videographers, media groups and musical artists have lended a helping hand to create some of the dopest content. I could list 20+ names including Norman Sann, Dj SaucyD, Gllry444, Dee Will, and more has sparked opportunities for me in the past 2 years.
Family and friends also hold a major role in getting me to push my music forward. My mother contributed to my exploration and other members of my family consistently supported my dreams. Big thanks to my good friend, Righteous Smith-Bey, for giving me the key. Countless visits to his small room studio to create sounds and practice my abilities during my years in highschool turned the light in me brighter.
I love every single soul that has been there and uplifted me through this journey.
