We had the good fortune of connecting with Madison Truscan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Madison, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Without risk, my life would be so boring! I firmly believe that taking risks is what has led me to be the photographer and woman I am today. Although it’s often scary and anxiety inducing, I know I’ll grow from the process and become confidently resilient. Persistence is key. I remind myself every day that failure does not define me, but instead I am known for commitment to not giving up.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
If there’s one thing that sets me apart from others, aside from ability to say “yes” to any crazy opportunity, it’s my ability to help anyone feel comfortable in front of the camera. My clientele base come from all walks of life – some have never even been photographed professionally before. I firmly believe that you don’t have to be a “model” to work with a photographer, and a photo session should be a uniquely cultivated experience you’ll remember forever. I help each of my clients with posing through fun analogies and prompts and encourage a lot of laughter. No matter your age, experience level or profession, I can capture your truest and most authentic self, empowering you in front of the camera.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love this question! We’re definitely having brunch at the Henry… walking the Katy Trail and of course visiting the Ice House. I’d probably take them to Bishop Arts District for drinks at La Reunion and some fun people watching. There’s some great shopping near there, especially at De Novo Active. We’d probably wrap up with dinner at STIRR or Sixty Vines and then a show at Ruins or House of Blues, or drinking at Skellig if we’re not too tired.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My photography mentor, JJ Demir, has provided ongoing support and taught me so much.
My two business mentors who’ve become like family to me, Stephanie Cencibaugh and Ruben Garcia with Girls and Roses Tattoo Studio in Portland, Oregon. They’re incredibly supportive as I’ve grown my business and I wouldn’t be who I am today without them!
