We had the good fortune of connecting with Alisha McNeal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alisha, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Coffee and working to make our house a home. I am a corporate professional 8-5, but in my spare time I enjoy working on home improvement projects, and making our space feel more like home by adding a lot of character and creating memories with my kids. Largely I do this through wood working or making themed foods for each holiday, all while drinking a lot of Cold Brew coffee.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m not a wood worker or handy woman by trade, but I’ve learned to research before picking up a project. One thing I still haven’t mastered is how to unlock different portions of the miter saw. While I’m not afraid to use the saw, I often call on my husband to get it set up for use. So I’d say a combination or research and asking for help when I’m in over my head. This may at times mean calling on the professional. I don’t hesitate to share my faults or project flaws so that others can learn along the way. With each project, I’ve gained more knowledge and confidence for the next.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were in town, I’d plan for the Spring time so she could see the Blue Bonnets in bloom. I would take her to the Ft. Worth Stockyards to see the Cattle Drive while sipping on some coffee, then to HG Sply for some lunch, and we’d shop at University Park Village. The next day we would visit Dallas to have brunch in the Arts District, maybe at Saint Ann, then we would shop in Highland Park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Mom has always been a source of inspiration. Growing up she did a lot to make each holiday special, from decorating our home in theme to hosting parties. She is a very creative soul and spent most evenings and weekends crafting. She also raised me to know that, with hard work and a little sweat, anything is possible.
