Meet Joy Gustave | Notary Public/Signing Agent & Wedding Officiant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joy Gustave and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joy, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Absolutely! The quote is: “There is value in knowing where you need to be.” A minister stated the quote and it resonated with me during a period in my life when I had to make a very difficult decision. I like this quote because it enlightened me on the act of prioritization, decision-making and it supports the elimination of fear. Often times there are situations or tasks that we need to handle and we may become reluctant to handle them out of fear. When we possess the knowledge of “value”, we become more focused, fearless and driven to master the task. The quote also prepared me for the successes that were to come. The first time I heard the quote in 2012, I immediately adopted it as my life-mantra and the dots of my life began to beautifully connect.

What should our readers know about your business?
Signed with Joy, LLC provides notary & loan signing services throughout Texas, specifically in the counties of Collin, Dallas & Denton. I offer mobile notary-traveling to the client all while practicing COVID-safe signings. I’m also excited to have recently added Wedding Officiant to the list of services offered (coming Summer 2022). Because I am ordained, I look forward to partnering with couples to help fulfill the wedding of their dreams as their officiant. Exposure to the intricate details of owning/operating a business, happened quite early for me. When I was child, my mother became an entrepreneur and launched a medical collections company, which she operated out of our home. Occasionally I would assist her with business-related tasks. One of those tasks was writing business letters, which she taught me how to do. So there I was, 11 or 12 years old, maybe younger, composing business letters, which resulted in many of the accounts she oversaw, get paid in full; Not bragging, but I was really good at writing those letters. It was exciting for me to experience my contributions, be it small in size, make a big-positive impact on her business. Fulfilling such tasks gave me confidence in my professional abilities, especially once I entered the workforce as an adult. Other lessons she taught me about the importance of networking, researching your business’ industry, and general business etiquette such as sending “Thank you notes” to clients, I applied when I developed Signed with Joy, LLC. Looking back at that experience, I realize the preparation for Signed with Joy, LLC, began when I was child, little did I know. Thank you Mom!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely hangout at Legacy West in Plano for great shopping & dining. The possibilities are infinite there: I always have great experiences at Haywire and Fogo De Chao. Not forgetting all the food options at Legacy Hall. Pangea Restaurant in Garland has great food and service, so we’d definitely dine there, perhaps for brunch; Last year I hosted a bridal shower there, its a great place! Klyde Warren Park would make the itinerary too-grab a bite from one of the many food trucks, lay out a blanket and have a picnic in the park AFTER touring the latest art exhibit at Dallas Museum of Art which is across the street from the park. I am originally from Los Angeles as most of my out-of-town visitors. Growing up in Los Angeles, I lived just 10 miles from the beach and visited the beach often, So I love being on the water, as do my visitors. With that said: Rent a boat at Joe Poole Lake and sail for a few hours would also be apart of the plan. Because Texas is known for some of the best BBQ, Tender Smokehouse in Frisco is a must. I’m drooling just thinking about it. A day of pampering is a must too which would totally be done at Bliss Nail Spa in Melissa. Although I’m not the best bowler or golfer, that wouldn’t stop me from placing Pinstack in Allen and Puttery in The Colony on the itinerary, both are SUPER fun. For my nature-loving visitors: Dallas Arboretum & Botancial Gardens, for sure, it is majestic! Lastly, I tell my out-of-town visitors they must experience Buccee’s, especially a first-time to Dallas visitor. Buccee’s is in a class by itself; it’s way more than just a fuel station, you really can’t describe it, you just have to experience it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, I want to dedicate my shoutout to my maternal grandparents (both deceased). They were a tremendous source of support, especially emotionally during my childhood and young-adult years. No scale could measure the amount of love and kindness they gave me, consistently. A lot of my success is a result of the lessons they taught me pertaining to the importance of ALWAYS placing God first, having a strong work ethic and giving back to my community.
