We had the good fortune of connecting with Zandra Bailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zandra, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. Henry David Thoreau I stumbled across this quote more than 10 years ago and it’s been part of my roadmap ever since. I am one of those persons who likes to take on challenges and stretch my comfort zone. This quote reminds me to not limit myself and to go for it with all of my might. As a black woman entrepreneur, we’re often told we cannot do something or that thing is not for us. When I’m faced with a challenge of someone or myself limiting myself I quickly get reminded of this quote. From there it’s game on! I also like how this quote is directive. Fluffy conversations are all good for some situations but in most situations you need that direct shot to the gut. This quote gives me just that. A reminder that I can dream beyond what I see. I can go places others won’t go. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. It reminds me not to limit myself but to activate faith in full throttle!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Boulevard Events is a company where authentic client relationships are built while curating custom designs for each client. Our portfolio consist of weddings, celebrations and custom balloon styles and designs. While serving our clients, we like to learn more about them so that pieces of them are designed within their experience. I would think that’s what makes us different. Our focus is primarily on the client experience. Those are the moments in time you remember. Building a brand is not easy by no means. It takes a lot of grit, time and passion. It’s like parenting in some ways. You birth it, you nurture it, you feed it, you groom it and so much more. There are days were you want to give up but you’re quickly reminded as to why you cannot give up. There are moments of uncertainty in the sustainability of your brand but you keep going anyhow. Your brand is the identity of your company. At Boulevard Events, our brand is bold, vibrant and fun experiences.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a week’s visit with my friend I would definitely start out at The Joule Hotel where would get some of the best Self Care day experiences with their spa, food and overnight stay services. My friends and I love Caribbean, seafood and cultural cuisines with a cool atmosphere so we’re definitely Crazee Crab, Sankofa, Meso Maya and Saint Roccos for some good food and drinks. Trinity Groves is a must. Some of the best dining experiences exist there. Also, the Cake Bar cannot be missed! It is a true staple on a trip to Dallas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are lots of people who have contributed to my success along the way. First and foremost my wonderful husband of 9 years. He’s my biggest fan. Without him Boulevard Events wouldn’t have the legs it has today. Aside from my family, friends and loved ones my mom also pays a part in my success and growth. Their belief in me is what matters and keeps me going!
