We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Medel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting your own business comes with the fear of uncertainty, especially in the competitive flower industry. It’s natural to worry about whether your flowers will sell or if customers will be satisfied, risking financial loss. However, persistence and a strong desire to succeed are key. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it. Over time, satisfied customers will start referring others to you. Keep fighting for your dreams and continue showcasing your work!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always had a passion for flowers and plants. One day, I started watching videos on how to make floral arrangements and bouquets. Gradually, I began practicing and buying materials. My daughter helped me set up my social media, and we began sharing my work just for fun. What could go wrong?

It’s not easy. There was always the fear of investing and not selling, or that people wouldn’t like my work. But I never lost faith, and each arrangement I create is unique and made with love.

The fear fades when I delivered a bouquet and the customer says it’s beautiful and becomes a regular client. Seeing someone smile makes it all worthwhile.

One lesson I’ve learned is to be persistent every day, keep learning, take courses, invest, and not let negative feedback stop you. I started this dream at 50 years old, and the best advice I can give is that age doesn’t matter; what’s important is to start now.

I want everyone to know about Flores de Mamá. Our mission is to offer the best options for every occasion, with the highest quality and experience. We are flexible with prices and options. Our goal is to bring smiles, especially to moms who rarely receive a rose. One day, I hope to have enough money to give every mom the roses I couldn’t give to my mom.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of our favorite places to go to eat is Texas Roadhouse. For their delicious bread and steak!

A great place to hang out and relax is, The Dallas Arboretum, beautiful and colorful gardens. I love going there with my family.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family—my husband, children, and grandchildren—make all of this possible. They motivate me to pursue my dream and support me every day. When I feel like giving up, they encourage me to keep going. I love them dearly and am grateful for their belief in me. A special shoutout to my mother Juanita, who is always with me from heaven.
