We had the good fortune of connecting with Trina Warrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trina, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Taking back control of my own health and life when I joined an all women’s boot camp style fitness class. When I did that, I 100% instantaneously “drank the Kool-Aid” and fell in love with everything about it. Within a year I was a certified personal trainer, opened my own camp(s) and started changing lives like mine had been changed.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is women’s only fitness. The workouts are aimed at, written for women’s bodies. Do we do some of the the same exercises men do? Of course. The point is, many women are intimidated by or simply do not want to workout around men… there’s so much body shaming in the world and ugliness out there that I try to offer a safe space where no boys are allowed (that’s supposed to be funny). We have fun while we workout and the main thing is it’s a judgment free zone. I have worked 9+ years creating this sisterhood. We’ve all become friends and family… we celebrate babies, we mourn losses and we do whatever our “family” needs in a time of crisis.

I try to plan an outing every 1-2 months, we (whomever wants to go) take a 4 day trip to Fredericksburg yearly and so much more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh, straight up Fort Worth for a weekend trip! Longer weekend it would be, the hill country/Fredericksburg area. But just a day or evening we’d go to McKinney and hang out at all the fun places on and around the square.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, I always give credit to Texas Fit Chicks, which is where I started my group fitness classes and then I opened my first classes under their umbrella for several years. Also, big Shoutout to my friend and mentor from that same group — she was my trainer when I started — LeighAnne Maloy. She has pushed me and encouraged me along the way!
