We had the good fortune of connecting with Tobie Zimmerman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tobie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
That’s a great question!
I started my own business for people like myself. I wanted to create a safe space for alternative, queer, and neurodivergent people like myself. A place that they could experience beauty services in a small safe space.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I think in many salons in the area you have an anxiety inducing nightmare. In my salon I try to make every client feel comfortable, safe and understood.

I have had so many chapters in my live as a hair stylist and experienced situations in the salon while seeing how the clients felt and used that to create my safe salon.

The lesson I’ve learned along the way is everyone has their own way of feeling beautiful , rainbow hair, natural, short hair long hair, masculine or feminine. It’s all beautiful, just like they are.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Omgosh! I love the crystal store and metaphysical stores in the dfw.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I don’t have anyone that I can really shout out to, I was self taught and everything I created I have done on my own.
