We had the good fortune of connecting with Timothy Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Timothy, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is not for the weak. I believe risk tasking is something that most successful entrepreneurs must embrace and not fear. If you don’t take risks you will never know how high is the mountain, how deep is the sea, or the amount of effort required to complete something that looks so far away. Risk is to be embraced and brought close to you. Once you do that with a strong embrace the risk transforms into courage and belief. It erases the fear and trembling that sets into the bones of those who are not willing to take the risk. I would say grab risk, sail on its back and when risk has brought you to shore burn the boat. Then look back at the fire and thank risk because without him, you would have never reached a new island to conquer.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work is to invest in the lives of others. My excitement comes when I see people excel at what they believe they have been called to do. Excel in opportunities that have been presented to them and making the most out of their life. I get joy and excitement when I see other people winning in life. Because of this attitude, it has propelled me to where I am in life today. I have benefited by helping others reach their goals. The process of developing a church and business was never easy. During the journey, we have and continue to meet challenges head-on. The challenges we encounter are simply there to bring about our creativity. It opens you up to new possibilities and ways of doing things. Challenges help you excel and develop a fresh perspective on how to do what has been done in a slightly different way. The biggest lesson I learned along the way is that you are not alone. I would think that I am the only person going through these things. But I discovered I was not the first and won’t be the last. I learned that many others have been through things from which you can glean from their experiences. I found it would be wise to seek out their advice and learn from their mistakes. Perseverance is the key to longevity. You have to continue to push, pull, kick and press. The most important thing while doing all of this is to maintain a relationship with God. This will keep you balanced and steady through any trials, tribulations, and turmoil.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Hutchinson BBQ, Perry’s, Chamberlain, Taverna, Little Katana, Dallas Stars, Improv. I believe they would find the sporting venues amazing and some of the best in the country. The food would have some wonderful steaks, pork chops, bbq and other various cusine. Then enjoy some comedy from the famous improv.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, my Savior Jesus who brought me from a darkness to an enlightenment that forever changed my life and the trajectory of my career, marriage and destiny. He gave me identity and purpose which I lacked.
Second, my wife has supported me in all of my efforts. She remained faithful when times seemed fruitless and she provided encouragement and steadfastness when everyone else denied the fruit. She had to walk alone at various times with me. Hold my hand in the dark not knowing where we would emerge and trust blindly in risk taking that made no sense to her.
