We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Horton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For years I’ve always wanted to start my own business however I didn’t have the slightest idea about what my business would be until about 2 years ago. After having a conversation with a friend, I decided it was time for me to go ahead and start my business so I started thinking about what the business would be, and all of a sudden, the thought of starting a donut shop popped into my mind. I didn’t get much sleep that night because my mind was so consumed with thoughts and ideas about how I wanted to run my business and what my business would look like. During this process, the more I worked on starting my business the more I saw my limitless potential in crafting something unique and also delicious.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My home-based donut shop is unique because I get the opportunity to let my creative side shine through in the form of my donuts. I am very proud of myself for taking the first step, which is starting my business because the first step is sometimes the hardest step. Being an entrepreneur is not for the weak but while running a business you will discover a strength inside of you that you didn’t know existed. There have been some challenges that I have had to overcome along the way but with each challenge, I had to tell myself to focus on what I could control. Along with the challenges there have been some lessons that I’ve learned along the way such as giving myself some grace when something does not turn out the way I want it to and knowing that with running a business you are going to make some mistakes. That’s how you learn what will and will not work for your business. I want the world to know that if you can think it, you can make it happen. Become your biggest cheerleader and don’t let anyone stop you from achieving your dreams.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Anyone that knows me well knows that I have a huge sports fan and a foodie. You can never go wrong with going to a Rangers game or even getting some great food at a restaurant. My favorite food is Italian so I would have to make a stop at Maggiano’s Little Italy one day and then Saint Rocco’s on another day. I would also have to make a stop at Grimaldi’s for some good brick oven-style pizza. My second favorite food is Mexican so I would surely have to stop at Campuzano’s and Vidora. Being a true Texan I greatly enjoy some good bbq so I would also have to make a stop at Pecan Lodge as well. Even though I’m a baker I do like to go out for dessert on occasion and one of my favorite spots to go to is Cake Bar. If my best friend were visiting around the end of September to beginning of October, we would definitely have to make a few visits to the State Fair Of Texas.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout my family and my friends for being my biggest supporters. Starting a business is hard but starting it without the love and support of those around you is even harder so I’m so grateful and blessed to have the family and friends that I do who have been very supportive and encouraging. Especially on the days when I needed it the most, they have and will continue to be there for me. Even with the support of my friends and family the ultimate credit goes to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ because without Him my business would not be possible. Every day I wake up and thank Him for blessing me with this gift that I can share with others, and I pray that my gift will bless someone and even motivate someone to go out and be a blessing to someone else.
