We had the good fortune of connecting with Thomas Lightfoot and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thomas, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that in life there are so many rewarding things that come on the other side of risk and fear. At the time of starting my business I was on staff at a church in Frisco and before entering entrepreneurship my whole life had been in music and ministry. The second year into my business we were all hit by Covid-19 which in turn meant spending a lot more time at home. In that time of being home more I saw just how much I was missing out on in my daughters day to day life who was one at the time. I knew that I wanted to have more control over my time and how I got to spend it and I knew that to have that I couldn’t be dependent on a job that required 40+ hours of my time a week. I had to take the risk of leaving my job and the stability that came with it. I once read that there is a difference between scary and dangerous. It was scary to leave my job but it was dangerous to never try at all and continue to feel I was meant for more.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
There are many mobile detailing businesses in the DFW. One thing that sets us apart is that we truly do care! Many of our customers have become friends and we truly enjoy building connections with everyone we serve. We consider ourselves a customer service business first and a detailing business second. We are in this to make every customers experience awesome from start to finish, and we know that when your vehicle looks good when hopping in the drivers seat you just feel good.

The most exciting part about our business at this point is just being able to look back from where we started and seeing where we are today. When I started this business I had limited tools and knowledge and today we have several employees and have serviced many customers around the DFW and of recently several members cars from the Dallas Cowboys! I could have never imagined where we would be today but we are so grateful for the trust and support of our customers.

Building a business has had its challenges, but I believe that what has brought us to where we are today is by never feeling as if we have arrived but that there is always so much to learn and improve on.

Our mission at Honey is to serve our customers in ways that go beyond detailing and the services we provide. We strive to professionalize the car wash experience and lead the way in serving our community and customers

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many things that make the DFW area so great. You could start your day at the many amazing third wave coffee shops we have like Houndstooth coffee or Ottos, and if you’re a foodie then you’re in luck. From hole in the walls to more upscale, one of our faves is Catbird in Dallas. Awesome drinks, cool vibes and great food! If you’re wanting to end the night with something fun Deep Ellum has one of the coolest music scenes and theres almost always live music each night. Of course you’ll have to end the night with satisfying your sweet tooth and emporium pies has you covered with some of the best pies and ice cream!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Someone who deserves the most amount of credit within my journey as an entrepreneur and my successes would be my wife Amy. She has believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. As cliche as it might sound, she has been a rock in my life consistently pushing and encouraging me to work towards my goals and dreams. She puts me before herself and her desires daily and inspires me to be the best version of myself.

Another huge inspiration in my life would be my mom. She came to America as an immigrant from Mexico at 15 to work and provide for her mom and family. She is a total boss and has taught me that with faith and hard work the possibilities are endless.
