We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Rogers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
The pain behind some of it. Working on social media is not as easy as it seems. In our society, beauty norms have become more strict than ever. More people want to see perfect, white, and skinny men or women, because that’s what is set as “beautiful” in our society. I get discouraged a lot because I see anyone who fits that norm gain tons and tons of more attention than anyone else on the platform. It’s hard. But it also gives me a reason to keep going. To keep fighting to change that norm and to open the world up to accepting and loving everyone. No matter their size, their gender, sexuality, etc.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
To be completely honest, I’m not as far as people think I am professionally, but I’m getting there. It most definitely is not easy and sometimes it can be difficult to keep going, when I see that I’m not growing as much as other creators are. But I’ve started to accept that takes time. Some lessons I’ve learned is that the more you want something, the harder you’re going to have to work for it. I continue every day to look for more opportunities to allow myself to grow, and achieve more.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would most definitely take my friend to Sky Blossom in Downtown Dallas. They have some of the best food I’ve had in my life. I would also take them to just explore Downtown Dallas. We would be able to hangout at the AT&T Discovery District, where we can just sit on the grass, talk, get ice cream, or even watch a movie if they’re playing one. There are tons of fun things to do in Dallas, and I would just want them to experience as much of it as they can.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom definitely deserves a ton of credit for where I am now. She has continued to push me to go above and beyond. She has gone through so much, and recently just beat a battle of breast cancer. She hasn’t let anything stop her from getting to where she is now, and she wants the same for me.
