We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamany Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamany, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always been very entrepreneurial and money-driven thanks to my dad’s influence. That being said, I’d wanted to be a teacher since I was in Elementary School. I went to UC Irvine to be a math teacher and taught 8th grade for 6 years. In 2020, I was coaching middle school teachers in Bogotá, Colombia when my dad was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. After much thought, I knew I needed to be with my mom to help with his 24/7 care and spend as much quality time with him as possible as I’d been overseas the past 4 years. I finished that school year virtually (the borders shut due to COVID 2 days after I returned to California!) and then was given the option to fly back to Colombia for the following school year or to be let out of my contract. Not knowing when/if I would be able to return to the US, I quit my career with no idea what I was going to do.

I did everything from DoorDash to temping at the front desk of a Keller Williams office in Sacramento. I was hired as a Market Center Administrator Assistant of another Keller Williams and quickly realized a 9-5 was no longer going to serve me and that I was capable of much more. I launched my business part-time a few months into that job and shortly after, they wanted me to provide my services for free to their agents and I quit immediately.

I was terrified! However, I told myself I could always DoorDash for a few hours if I had a slow week. I’m so humbled to say I’ve only DoorDashed once since going full time a little over 2 and a half years ago!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As I am a visual learner, I usually describe the answer to this question as a 3-way venn diagram. Let me explain.

My parents brought Keller Williams Realty to Northern California in 2000 and I’ve done everything from front desk to auditing to personal assistant to market center administrator assistant. I grew up putting labels on mailers and went door knocking with my parents. I have an incredible depth of knowledge when it comes to building and marketing a real estate business simply because I’ve always been around it. My parents actually bought me the course to become a real estate agent and I never even opened the box! I just never wanted to be an agent myself.

When I graduated high school, I decided to go to UC Irvine to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. I taught 8th grade math for 2 years in Sacramento, California before moving overseas to Bogotá, Colombia. I was incredibly lucky to have a principal who believed in my potential and transitioned into coaching teachers to incorporate 21st Century Skills into their lessons to help prepare our students for a world full of technological advances.

Pair these two important pieces of my background with the fact that I’ve always been very creative. I have this ability to make things look visually appealing, which I honestly thought everybody had until I realized a lot of people struggled with this. I was introduced to CANVA in 2019 when I was planning prom and of my students said we should use it make the posters and I was floored that this tech was free! I started using it daily!

I feel like I combined these 3 things to create my business, The Simple Touches.

When I launched, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. In 2020, my slogan was “Agent Support Services”. But as I’ve ebbed and flowed with the needs in the real estate marketing world and what I actually enjoy doing, my latest vision statement is as follows:

We help seasoned REALTORS® overflow their top of funnel with the exponential power of social media marketing so they can be more present in their personal lives

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I moved to Dallas in October of 2022. After my dad passed away, I genuinely just wanted a fresh start somewhere exciting to get back to myself as a single 30-year-old and not a caretaker.

Little did I know, Dallas was going to accelerate my business beyond anything I could have ever planned for! I’m still getting to know the area, but here are my faves so far:

-Dallas Arboretum: Let’s have a picnic in the gorgeous grounds and get some fresh air

-Myx Blend Bar: Create your own lipstick or lip gloss

-Golden BLK Co: Create your own candles

-American Airlines Center: Let’s catch a basketball game

-Dallas World Aquarium: Way more than just fish!

-Deep Ellum: Lots of fun little night life spots

-Cowboys Red River: Let’s take a beginner dance lesson; Thursdays are ladies’ night!

-Immersive Gamebox: So fun and unique if you love team building!

-Nails: Seriously, getting your nails done here is such an experience! Who wouldn’t want to have a cocktail or two while getting pampered?

-Speakeasy: There are tons of fun little hole in the wall spots! See if you can find them!

-Stockyards: Live music, sunshine and great food and drinks

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is to my father, my hero, Wayne Hall. My dad was the smartest man I’ve ever met and I absolutely get my entrepreneurial spirit from him. I grew up pitching business ideas to him whenever I saw a gap in the marketplace and we would discuss the pros and cons of the idea for hours. From the Airforce, to an officer in the LAPD, to building homes with my grandpa, to an incredibly successful real estate broker, my dad was incredibly talented and loyal to a fault. We lost an amazing soul last year to Lou Gehrig’s disease and I can only hope that I am continuing his legacy of sharing wealth building through real estate in the day and age of social media marketing.

And to my mom, Stacy Hall. Their love story was sensational and going through the last few years by her side has shown me just how strong of a woman she is. I love you. And I will always be here for you.
