We had the good fortune of connecting with TaCarla Googe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi TaCarla, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
What began as a simple desire to earn extra income for a family vacation evolved into a full-fledged mission to empower others through financial literacy and entrepreneurship. I initially got into tax preparation because I wanted to create opportunities for my family—specifically, to take them on a vacation we’d remember forever. At the time, it felt like a side hustle. I started by helping close friends and relatives file their taxes and form their small businesses, using the knowledge I had gathered through personal experience and relentless self-education.

But what started as something small quickly grew into something deeply meaningful. As I saw firsthand how powerful it was to help someone not only file a tax return, but also understand how to keep more of their hard-earned money, I realized this was more than numbers, this was about empowerment.

Over time, my consulting firm took shape with a dual focus: providing reliable, strategic tax preparation services and walking side-by-side with aspiring entrepreneurs as they bring their visions to life. I’ve helped single mothers become CEOs, young professionals launch their first LLCs, and retirees finally turn their passions into a profitable business. I specialize in turning everyday people into confident business owners, demystifying processes that often feel overwhelming.

What sets my company apart is the heart behind it. I don’t just prepare taxes, I prepare people for a better financial future. I don’t just register businesses, I help build legacies. My greatest reward is not only seeing my clients get their maximum refunds or earn more income, it’s watching them begin to believe in themselves.

My journey proves that sometimes the smallest intention, like planning a family trip, can blossom into a calling that transforms lives.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is rooted in service, strategy, and empowerment. I run a consulting company with a focus on tax preparation and small business development. What sets me apart is my ability to break down complex financial and business concepts in a way that’s relatable and easy to understand especially for people who have never seen themselves as “business owners” or financially savvy. I meet my clients where they are, and I walk with them step by step until they feel confident and in control of their financial journey.

I’m most proud of the lives I’ve impacted not just through refunds or business formations but by helping people believe in themselves. I’ve had clients go from feeling stuck and overwhelmed to launching successful businesses, repairing their credit, and building wealth for their families. That’s what excites me most, seeing transformation happen through education and support.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. I didn’t come from wealth or a long line of entrepreneurs. I had to learn through trial, error, prayer, and perseverance. There were moments I doubted myself, made mistakes, and wanted to quit. But I kept going because I knew I was building something bigger than myself. I overcame challenges by staying grounded in my purpose, leaning on my support system, and continuing to invest in my own learning and growth.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that consistency beats perfection. You don’t have to have it all figured out to start, you just need to start. I also learned that mindset is everything. Once you believe you deserve more, you begin to move differently, and that shift is where real change happens.

What I want the world to know is that my brand is not just about business. It’s about building legacies. It’s about helping everyday people tap into their potential, take control of their finances, and create the life they’ve always dreamed of. My story is proof that with faith, vision, and hard work, you can turn something small, like wanting to fund a family vacation, into a movement that changes lives.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, I’m a homebody at heart. There’s nothing like the peace of being curled up on my couch, surrounded by good vibes, cozy blankets, and the quiet that helps me recharge. But if a friend or family member came to visit and I had to pull out all the stops for a week of fun, I’d definitely mix in a little adventure with some well-earned relaxation.

First stop? Medieval Times, hands down my favorite place in the city! I love the energy, the experience, the horses, the jousting, everything about it feels like stepping into a different world. It’s fun, theatrical, and something you just never forget. We’d be cheering like royalty with crowns on and chicken legs in hand!

Another night, we’re heading to Pappadeaux. That’s my go-to spot for good food and good conversation. I’m simple, so it doesn’t take a 5-star experience to impress me, just give me some seafood, a chill vibe, and laughter with someone I love.

The rest of the week would be a mix of soulful moments and easygoing fun. Maybe a walk through the local farmers market, a day at a spa for some much-needed self-care, and a drive around the city just talking and catching up. One night we’d definitely turn on old school R&B, and have a wine-and-wisdom (for me sprite zero) night at home, because sometimes the best memories are made without leaving the house.

For me, it’s not about doing the most, it’s about being present, creating real connection, and enjoying the little things with people who matter most.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s no way I could take this journey alone, so my shoutout goes to several people and forces that helped shape who I am today.

First and foremost, I give all glory to God. My faith has carried me through every high and low, and it’s been the foundation of my purpose and resilience.

I also have to shout out my family, especially my husband and children, who have been my reason and my “why” from the very beginning. They’ve supported me, encouraged me, and inspired me to dream bigger.

To my best friend and sister, your love has been a lifeline. You’ve been there to pick me up when I felt like I couldn’t go any further, and somehow, you always know the right thing to say at exactly the right moment. Your presence in my life is a gift I thank God for daily.

To my late grandfather and sister, who both passed from cancer, your legacy and strength push me to do work that honors our family and creates a healthier, more empowered future for others.

To my very first clients, my family and friends, thank you for trusting me when I was just getting started. Your support helped me grow into a businesswoman with purpose.

And finally, to the community of Black entrepreneurs and women in business who continue to inspire me with their grit and brilliance, this journey is for all of us.
