Meet Swapnil Mahendrakar | Pediatric Dentist, Veteran

We had the good fortune of connecting with Swapnil Mahendrakar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Swapnil, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
As a parent, the most crucial virtue I have instilled in my children is gratitude and kindness. .

What should our readers know about your business?
I am an individual who thrives on challenges. After completing dental school in India, I relocated to the United States to further my education. Leaving my family and moving to a different country alone was perhaps the greatest challenge I have faced in my life. I have always desired to be independent and to live life on my own terms. To finance my studies at Texas Woman’s University, where I earned dual master’s degrees in Business Administration and Health Systems Management, I was required to work multiple odd jobs. Subsequently, I enlisted in the United States Army, where I was the first female medic in the 3rd Special Forces. My time in the military significantly contributed to my personal and professional growth. It also rekindled my passion for dentistry. I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from UPENN and then pursued my dream of specializing in pediatric dentistry at YALE.
Currently ,I am the owner of two successful Pediatric Dental Clinics. I believe that the key to success is hard work and persistence. I take pride in practicing dentistry in a highly personalized and empathetic manner. My cardinal rule for my staff and me is to treat all children as if they were our own. This philosophy not only keeps us deeply connected to our patients but also provides a system of checks and balances. For me, being a pediatric dentist is not just about performing dental procedures but also about creating an environment where young patients and their loved ones are not apprehensive about future dental visits.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to dance and eat good food, and I’m always down for checking out new restaurants. I especially like to find those hole-in-the-wall mom-and-pop places. Speakeasies are really cool, too. When I’m celebrating something, I love to go to East Elephant, Sanjh, and Monarch. They are all in the DFW area.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents and my Mother in law have been my pillar of support all my life, especially my mom. They have always been there for me, no matter what. I am so grateful for their love and support.
My husband is my best friend, my motivation, my biggest critic and above all have supported me unconditionally.
Also, the credit goes to my kids- Anaya and Ayansh , who knows the importance of my hard work .
It does take a village to raise kids, I cannot thank enough my close group of friends, who have always been there by my side.
